IP35Pro Graphics Card Recommendations?

Hello,

My EVGA 8800GT recently crapped out and I'm running on an old ATI All in wonder x600 Pro at the moment.

Would this card work with my Mobo [bios v17] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130378 ?

I don't do any gaming, but use Photoshop extensively.

Plus, as of this writing, my system color settings are out of whack. Gray is a light shade of purple and my photoshop 'styles' workspace has a pink background [it's supposed to be grey] and every image I open requires a manual image/adjustments/auto color click to see the correct colors - otherwise everything is shaded reddish.

Image

I'm using Vista Business 32bit and have tried every variation of system default color schemes. In addition, just recently my Canon i9900 printer decided to print every color as Cyan [on any photo paper, but not on normal paper - go figure...]

Do you think a new graphics card [besides being required] would solve these other system and printer color issues?

Many thanks in advance,

Rick

You can try this one too. It comes with HDMI connection and I like ATI cards over Nvidia cards. But that is up to you just throwing something else out there for you.

I'm still not sure why or how a video card going out could cause your system colors to go whack, but to fix it you may need to do a Repair of your Vista install.

I like Nvidia cards, been running nothing but EVGA cards for quite some time now. Have never had one fail (touches wood  ) even tho I run Folding @ Home on them which runs the card at 100% 24/7.

I bought one of these the other day: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130432 sweet price for an awesome card. Chris.

Don't get me wrong Chris I was a big Nvidia junkie for years. I build mostly intel board and use Ati cards. I do have 2 - 8800gts cards in two computers one in mine mini and one in my sons.

Iwould not attempt to fix the color until you have gotten a new GPU installed.

I'm just asking but didn't this happen on both video card. If it did I would start looking at the video cable. I do a lot of work on peoples computer and if the video cable is not in all the way I'll have screwed up video colors. :o

Well first thanks to everyone for your help.

I fixed the system color issue and I'm starting to think my Canon i9900 is the culprit. It prints all colors perfectly on normal paper, but not on photo paper or glossy paper. I just created a support ticket with them and we'll see what they say. I may call the authorized service business that recently installed a new print head - he might have some ideas.

Those two graphic cards are both GDDR3 - can I use that with my rig??? I have two sticks, each is DDR2 800Mz with 2gigs. http://patriotmem.com/products/detailp.jsp?prodline=5&catid=2&prodgroupid=38&id=658&type=1

Thanks

The GDDR that is on the video card is completely independent of your system RAM, so yes, either card will work fine on your system.

DM, video cards are like CPU brands, motherboard brands, even cars that we buy. It all come down to personal preferences. ATI's drivers started giving me headaches back when my Radeon 9800 Pro was new. My first Nvidia card was a PNY 6600GT/ AGP, and I never looked back (no, not much of an upgrade at the time but it ran really really well)

Now back to the regularly scheduled Topic. ;) Chris.

Thanks for your reply about GDDR - that opens a whole world of options I didn't know were available.

BTW - I fixed my printer color problems.

I AM SO EMBARRASED, BUT YES, IT WAS USER ERROR THE WHOLE TIME. I PUT A CYAN CARTRIDGE IN THE PHOTO CYAN SLOT. WHAT AN IDIOT!!!!!!!!!

THANKS EVERYONE!

Rick out....
