My Monitor Died.

Postby Greybear » Tue Mar 02, 2010 1:54 am

My old MAX Innovations FPS989 (something like that) died on my....

No warning, on minute gaming like crazy....next thin white line thru the middle of the screen containing the whole desktop :(

What I am now needing is a few good suggestion for a replacement gaming monitor, under the $200 mark. That would be comparable to a 19' CRT.

I love my 22" Acer widescreen. Not quite as tall as a 21" CRT but really sweet monitor. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824009212

This Samsung looks nice, too: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824001345 free shipping. :9:

Altho mine is branded as an E Machines, Windows says it's an Acer. Scavy, Blue and I all have the same monitor. I got mine back on Black Friday for $90. Really a nice monitor. :9:

Probably just bad pixels. I have a green one that shows up when the screen is dark, but it's not there when the screen is white, like now. Minor annoyance. with most companies, you have to have at least 5 bad pixels to exchange the monitor.

Majorgeeks.com may have a monitor tuning program, I use the Nokia Monitor Test to set all my colors and balance. :9:

Glad you like it, they are nice, aren't they. And look how much real estate you reclaimed on your desk! :D

Well my ACER X213H Monitor has NO dead Pixels at all, not a one :D

Really Happy about that. The only ting I don't like about WS Monitors is using them on

old ass games, but I always find a work around, I still LOVE my Trinitron 21 in. Best CRT made IMHO.

However I sure don't mix the Massive Size and 80 pounds of awkward weight, that and the warm up time

a good 3-5 minutes for the colors to really shine. Oh and it (Trinitron) never had Blacks like my ACER X213H.

Pitch Black, Blacks!! Love that, and INSTANT on, 10 seconds to Boot up and I'm in Windows with a Perfect

Crisp and Clean, Bright Color, right NOW!! Love that action!! Plus I don't get the color bleeding in the corners

on my ACER, my CRT (s) all, would in time change colors just a bit in the corners. However I know how to fix that as well.

Perfect Size too, Hell I'm close to it about 3 feet or less and it looks GREAT :9: Plus mine runs at a Native 1920X1080dpi HD,

16:9 Ratio, not 16:10 or what ever. I run everything at the native RES. Unless it's an old game that doesn't support it.

Then it looks fine and fills the Screen at 1280X960, still looks Awesome. Long story short CRT's have their place, as welll as a Good WS does.

For Example my Trinitron would go up to 25XX REZ!!

We have just bought two new monitors which are AOC F22 running at 1920 x1080 which is such a big improvement on what we had before, we are buying a house so computer parts are far between these days. :( I'm not sure what the AOC make is like but at least they are in NZ.
