i was edit my post while you was posting chris..
but i dont think you can run multi brand video cards in 1 system now.. and i have read something about ati and physics. they dont like each other or some thing..
but the next gen graphics-i think its intel will use no drivers and can use multi brand video cards.. i think now. you have to use all same brand in same system.. i dont think you can install drivers for both ati and nv on same system and i dont think no 1 brand drivers can run both video card brands at same time.. best i understand- ati cards should be able to run physics- maybe nv wants some royalties from them ati or something i dont know. nv owns it and can do as they like i guess. but the tech should be able to run it..
if i was reading right- the new intel stuff will be more powerful and no drivers etc.. sounds sweet to me.. i will try and find more info on it and post it..
** um i was reading them multi card cards 9800x2 and 295 etc have more problems- because you run them in sli tho its only 1 card.. they have more game problems etc like cf and sli in general.. if it all works right and for some games it might be cool- but folks fall back to the 285 or 275 and 1 video card and less head akes.. so- you should be fine and just wait with your 260s.
also- i was reading in this article- and being nv is late with its new cards- they are coming out with next step cards they would be selling by now and all price ranges on launch too- said the gpu has gone through 3 more revisions since they pulled it.. normally nv puts out its gtx cards first then mid and low range-- but they are hitting the market full blast with all price ranges.. so.. wait a few more months the new nv cards will have been out and few more months on sale-- say 4 to 6 months get something better than what you can buy now and at a reasonable price too- and dx11 is more future proof and dx will run tessellation etc. it will be a new dx engine or something that can do tess- ati cards can do tess but its different- nv its done in dx. by then ati will have its next gen cards and nv will be not far behind with new stuff too.. nv will push the market to put out more dx11 content too so..
lots of good info here..>
http://www.guru3d.com/article/nvidia-gf ... y-preview/to be honest id wait about 6 months or so and let nv come out with its next gen new cards and then buy- not just out nv cards but the next revision and after they have been on the market a lil while-- kind of like the g80- 8800 and the g92 8800 512mb vid cards.. which all the new nv vid cards are just redone g80s or well redone g92s.. but the new nv stuff is all new.. id rather wait until its next gen- first gen stuff can be more buggy or obsolete faster.. so. your 260 is fine for most games- id guess- or your high res monitor can push your system in games.. a 275 or 285 is a good lil jump over your 260-- for less than 250 bucks.. but id wait save that 250 a few more months add another 50- 100 what ever-and then buy a new dx11 nv card.. id guess- it will blow the 295 out of the water..
