lost a rig, poop

Postby Mr. Chris » Wed Feb 17, 2010 12:08 am

Rig #2 died today. The board is dead and it took the CPU, RAM and video card with it. Thought it might have been the PSU that caused it but the PSU is fine. So much for Biostar boards. Now I'm wondering if my main rig will hold up. Sheeite!

Gonna be the end of the week before I get a replacement, so Bill 1024 will be catching up big time.

Sorry to hear that, guess all boil down to luck. Beside your folding rig is power on for 24hr, might be heat or stuff. Lastly did you clear cmos or jump start the rig using a screw driver?

I think the power MOSFETS couldn't handle the 145 watt Phenom II CPU, because 2 of them were burnt. Just fried. And there is no heat sink on them. The case has great cooling and it was clean so it's just a bad board. So I put in for an RMA. I already tried the CPU and video card in this board, they are dead as well. So I asked about if Biostar will replace them as well, but I have a feeling it's gonna be a "NO" :?

Looking at their site, it says the following
Biostar Microtech USA Corp Standard Warranty Policy
Effective 01-01-2010
Three year warranty applies to USA and Canada only

Motherboards, 3 year manufacturer's limited warranty (first 2 years parts and labor, third year parts only) based on manufacturers date code which can be found on the serial number.

VGA Cards, 1 year manufacturer's limited warranty (parts and labor) based on manufacturers date code which can be found on the serial number.

http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en-us/support/rma.php

If is within the above say warrantly, i guess they would be obliged to rma or at least repair the board for you. But then if you're referring to the video card and processor i don't think they would as the latter belong to another manufacturer

I have all the reciepts for everything so I have RMA's for all of it now. Time to box it all up and send it all back. But in the mean time I'll just buy new and get back to work! ;)
