I know I've been thru this before, but can't find the other Topic. Anyways, rig #2 has Vista and Win 7 RC 7200 on it. 2 seperate drives. I installed Win 7 with the Vista drive connected, so the MBR is on the Win 7 drive. I want to remove that drive, format it and put it into rig #1 as a "backup" drive. But, when I do that, I know the PC will not be able to boot afterwards.

To fix that, all I should have to do is boot rig #2 with the Vista CD in the CD drive (boot from CD of course) and tell Windows to "repair" Or is there some magical command, like "Fix MBR" that I need to tell it?

I just want to get the facts right before I mess things up then run in circles (like I usually do! :roll:

Sounds correct, as I thought you did something similar when you pulled a VISTA drive off another rig and lost the Bootloader. So you finally put the CD in and did a Repair to get it booting again.

Mayhaps I am incorrect, but that topic was before like 2months or so.

Ahhhh, OK, that one too. Looks to be about the same thing as far as doing the repair.

*sigh* you would think after all these years of messing up then finally figuring out how to fix things, I could remember what I did. :roll:

OK, decided to just put another 500Gb drive in rig #1, that 160Gb would be used up too quick if I back up a lot of data/ games/ etc. Hell, my Steam Games folder is bordering on 60Gb alone! :shock:
