OK, this is driving me nuts.....

Postby Greybear » Thu Sep 17, 2009 10:15 pm

I use the nVidia Driver Search and Download site almost daily...a few days back it stopped working for me, but only in IE 7.

Now, this is what is driving me nuts...Their normal Download page works fine, and if I use FireFox the page I am having issue with works fine.

Thinking it was a JScript patch from MS, I uninstalled the last one....did not solve the problem. I installed JAVA 6 update 16, did not solve the problem....But it just drives me nuts that only this one page on this one website does not seem to work.

Now keep in mind....The other page works fine, and Firefox gets both pages to work just fine. Now shoot those suggestions to me :)

Below is the exact spot that gives me issues.

GB, this is what I think...

I never use the search button that's for folks that have no clue what their doing.

As long as you have the Right Card Series (then pick out your model), Right OS, Right Language, Vista64 or 32, XP and Win 7 ,

and so on you have the correct version. Never mess with that Search. Don't know what it does, LOL, I

just assume really it''s just for lazy people who don't want to look up their card and OS etc. It will look in your system and

match you up the best it can. Which is probably the same DAMN one you picked on your own.

Just think of it as a short cut for really Lazy people. I agree it shouldn't be there, but I do understand why it's there.

Or for folks that are lazy or just don't know what drivers are. So it's an AUTO FIND button.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

Probably for Bone heads downloading for the wrong OS is my GUESS.

++++++++++++++++++++++

Just my Take ;)

Blue

I don't think folks are really Bone heads, Just want it done for them. :tomato:

Also for Folks whom may not know what kind of Card in in the RIG. Stolen PC's?? :P

The biggest issue is people whom just keep installing new dr8ivers and leaving the old set, use Driver Sweeper

and, have one DRIVER folder 2 at the most. So you have one to roll back to, but even if you have no back ups

MS will supply a Default driver that will work.

++++++++++++++++++++++

THE BEST IS HAVING one DRIVER AT ONE TIME. NO DOUBT, IF NOT THEY MAY GET MIXED UP SOMEHOW by MS. :shock:

++++++++++++++++++++++

NEVER MIND, you have to use the Search button Know, Guess I should have checked, the other option is

for Searching, so they seem to have it Backwards , those Bastages!! LOL!!

Anyway you look at it, when in doubt use Guru3d.

SO anyhow they have it backward IMO

+++++++++++++++++++++++

I think your thinking of the wrong feature....The SEARCH button returns ALL drivers that you can DL based on OS / Platform, Selecting the Options does nothing unless you hit the button....

I think your assuming that its the AUTOSCAN button to tell people what Driver they need, which will always be the latest....and to often wrong.

Try my two links. Youll see the difference...

This is what I think your thinking about:

But I am Still left with the issue as to why the button does not work on one page, does on the other, works on both in FireFox.
