A new single player expansion for FEAR 2 was released yesterday on Steam, it's another $9.99 download content thing, but everyone that got it on the Steam Forums says it's well worth it. They've been saying it's done the way FEAR 2 should have been made'

What if you bought the Retail Disk of Fear2, and not Steam, I guess I could add the game to Steam Games, they do that.

Then get the new content, would that work Chris? Or no?

AFAIK, none of the different DLC's for games will work with a retail box game. You have to have originally got the game digitally (downloaded). But I'm not 100%. Chris.

Well, this is certainly a different take on who you play as in FEAR. You play as a Replica soldier. They drop you down in a Heavy Mech. Which finally gets damaged and kicks you out. I stopped at that point because it was time to go to work.

BUT, I already noticed a few things I do not like. This is basically an "update" to your FEAR 2. You choose "Start New Game" from the main menu. Then "Select Mission" then choose the "FEAR 2 Reborn" tab. If you are currently playing FEAR 2, you lose all your save games.

Then, even tho everything in the Options> Graphics settings is the same as you set it in the main game, it doesn't work in Reborn. I had "Film Grain" turned Off. It was On in Reborn. The Gamma was way, way too low in Reborn.

I'm gonna do some investigating over at the Steam Forums, been hanging out there a bit lately. So many games I can offer my sage advice on. Chris.

It was basically juts Interval 1 that had the issues. By Interval2 it looked pretty nice:



Do those 2 buildings in the back ground look kinda familiar?



After a scene where Fettle takes you over and yo kill your squad of Replica buddies, you have to head for that swiriling thing:



Fun walking thru a building that's fallen in it's side!



Anyways, if you get this, don't judge by Interval 1, it gets much better! Chris.

Had I got it on Steam I'd be all over it!!

It was really dark in a lot of areas during Interval 1. But as soon as I finished that level and started Interval 2 it was like all the graphics settings finally clicked. Really having fun with this one. Highly recommend for $9.99! I'm gonna ask if this DLC is compatible with the retail box. It might be, as long as you had to register FEAR 2 with Steam at some point. Chris.

BTW, all those screen shots are exactly what the game looks like.

yeah i just saw this on steam tonight and watch the trailer they got out. and yeah it sure does look good and now your on the other side playing it. sure is a twist into the game now.

uhm so in other words if you install the retail game via steam and then you can buy the xpack it will work?

just want to make sure is that what you are saying here. cause dont want to uninstall and then install via steam just to come to find out it wont work that way for this xpack.

but uhm any new weapons we havent seen so far?
