Did all that. All the errors and missing files come right back. I'll try shutting off UAC later and do it all over again. This is becoming a topic for Connect Services/ Win 7. Chris.

There was another thing that happened with the RTM which was odd. They have an issue where it cannot see a nVidia RAID. But the RC has no problem.

So this might just be another item.

Mr. Chris wrote:Wait a minute, what the hell is all this 'eHome" crap? Is that what I read that MS put in to the Win 7 RTM to report back to MS? Because otherwise, it looks like damn Trojan spy ware. Chris.

Edit: Found out WMC is what all this "eHome" shit is from. In fact, I think all this or most of this is from WMC. Can I uninstall it? Or will that bork everything up? Maybe it's not installed correctly?

WMC can be shut off in the control panel, Windows options or at least I think it does..

Got this response from Jane C at MS Connect:

Ignore it. CCleaner is very good at finding odd registry entries that
have absolutley no bearing on how well Windows is running.

ActiveX/COM errrors in the registry found by CCleaner are usually benign
and need no action. CCleaner is great at getting rid of garbage files,
but as for the registry.....

Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card? Are there any
patches available from the game mnfr site?

She always has good advice so I'll take her up on this for now. Unless I get another response.

I really do get good advice from Connect because it's user to user for the most part. And all of us MVP's. Well, some other n00bs, too. :P Chris.

Here is my problem with the response you were given......

My car runs, but it makes a tick sound. Every now and then it makes a thump sound. But wait, it still runs. It gets its normal 24MPG 0 so whats the problem?

According to your contact, no problem, keep driving. Real world - it died 5 hours into a 16hour trip when it threw the serpinetine belt because of a bad tension pulley (bearings went out)

Ok, so CCLEANER find OBSCURE crap.....
RTM has it....
RC does not....WHY?

These obscure entries are stored WHERE?
So, this storage location keeps growing....Forget it? This seems like it is pulling it straight from the REGISTRY (Yes, I am guessing) and that means after some point, it will have a direct effect on the performance of the unit.

But why is it happening? RTM - YES, RC - NO.....Why?

And why is it that 2 programs, CCLEANER and HJT are both prevented from doing what they do? And the entries reappear?

PARANOID, yes I am. Believer in, all is good regardless of appearance, so keep on going? NO I am not, 8 hours on the side of the road with nothing more than a crescent / flathead / channel locks / tire iron cured me of that.

These COM errors are not just a few, they are a ton. They are across the board, not focalized to one or two programs. Benigh? Then why are they not in the RC?

But hey, not my OS. :) Just remember, That registry (If I am right) will keep growing. This will increase startup, if not other performance issue when accessing the registry.

Look, the only reason I posted this is because I was concerned. And I've been on the side of the road before with the same tools (but it was an alternator bolt that was loose and finally fell off in the middle of the Arizona desert after I was told the belt was o.k.) Like I said, I do value her advice and take it into consideration. In her defense, I didn't elaborate about how I tried to delete the errors and they came back. And I didn't mention the HJT stuff. I will add to my Topic there later. Paranoid, yes, I am, too. I don't like a shit load of errors being found by any program. It's still gonna bug me until I find a real definitive answer.

Strange thing just happened while I was typing this. Anti Vir popped up and said it found a Trojan in some FF file or another. Something about a "55.pdf" file requesting access. So this is another WTF to add to the list. Really weird shit going on. I think I'll take a nap with my tin foil hat on. Chris.

I have a tin foil Pyramid that covers my whole bed.....it used to be air tight, but ....when you wake up and turn on the flash light and see little blue men, you get scared...then you realize it is you inside an air tight tin foil pyramid and break out.

Heheh......

What I was eluding to was that you should have given more information to the issue. Or at the least, asked the REGISTRY filling up with these benign issues.....performance problem......

Her information is a step above mine, since she is likely to be first hand experiencing the OS in question....knowing the ins and outs....

I generally have more questions than I ever have answers......And my questions tend to lead others to answers.

I'm new to this ccleaner and I just downloaded it and ran it. Before I do anything I ran the Analyze first. I got no errors at all and again they might not show up in the analyze.

Plus I don't run this crap on my computer but I'm just trying see if I get the same thing that Chris is getting. I what mean about that crap is I don't run any kind of fix it tools on any of my computers.

Never have and never will.

Just trying to help out a buddy. So Chris do you just click on the ccleaner button ?

DM, there are parts to CCleaner that I run. First, the Cleaner (little broom in the upper left corner) which mainly cleans tracking cookies. Then the Registry Tool, also on the left side, which is what is finding all the ActiveX errors. Yes, click on the Analise button for each then you can choose what you want removed. Or, if you clicl on Cleaner, it will remove everything it finds by itself. Chris.
