flashing to the latest bios

Postby cas » Sun Aug 23, 2009 2:04 am

I intend to flash to the latest bios and say if a mobo minimum processor support is AMD Athlon™ 64 3000+ and i only have a amd athlon 2600+, do you think it would work? Next if a change to a AM2 or AMD Phenom, do i need to place the processor there prior to flashing the bios or just place the minimum 3000+ and after flashing just swap to AM2 or AMD Phenom but then would it recognised the new processor?

Excuse my ignorance as so far i've only flash once and is not due to processor incompatible but just wanna overclock the processor which is why the flash but this time round flashing due to the mobo only support lower watts of processor as mine processor is having higher watts

If the Motherboard is posting, thats a plus. If it identifies the correct processor, its supported.

But, your best bet is to Clear the CMOS, set the RAM voltage correctly, and flash with the processor that is working presently. Cause if the processor your moving to is not supported, it may not post. It may also apply the incorrect voltage and kill it.

And as always, manually clear the CMOS after the flash and before the next post. Do not use any STORED Profiles for the BIOS after the flash.
