EA Games and Bio Ware = shit

Postby Mr. Chris » Mon Jul 27, 2009 7:42 pm

I remember seeing here somewhere that EA Games bought Bio Ware, so the new Mass Effect will really be an EA title.

Well, yesterday, when I had that problem with the missing lava textures pop up again in Mass Effect, and with Steam supposedly having already included Bring Down the Sky in the game I downloaded from them (Direct 2 Drive did not include BDtS) I went back to the Bio Ware website and tried to log in with my name and password. Well, now you have to jump thru hoops. Have to log into EA Games first to authenticate your key code. And EA Games doesn't remember my name or password. so I tried to get them to send my password. They say my e-mail address isn't valid. :? What The Frak? Not valid? Oh, O.K. I must be an outlaw spammer without a "live" e-mail account.

So then I tried to open another account with EA, with a different name and e-mail (I have Net Zero and G Mail) EA says that e-mail address is not a valid e-mail. So now I'm like "What The Holy Fraking Frak?"

Conclusion, which I know some of you already have: EA Games is totally borked. Totally. They are gonna frak up ME2. I can just tell. My only hope is that Steam can help me fix the issue with ME1, because I can't even log in at Bio Ware. Which before, they were very quick and professional to help solve the problem with the missing lava.

I still have several missions to do until I need to find whoever it was I has to find on Theron or whatever world this was on anyways. Not like this game is short. And I'm still lovin! Mass Effect! What a great game! Chris.

Boy Chris~

You're not having any luck with EA, do you have the EA down-loader installed on your rig you play the game on?

No matter, as BioWare released Mass Effect. I'll see if I can install it, ok, I'm on Vista now though, but shouldn't matter.

Or it may? As WIN7 is Beta. Hmmm. There's a file that looks like this you need::

Image

The file circled in RED. Tells BioWare you own the game. I think? Keep your sys info. Gmail won't

usually work for a legit email address. BTW. Or so it seems? :?: :banghead:

At any rate tomorrow I'll look into it for you. ok. ;)

Blue

You may have changed OS's and so much hardware, it has no idea what to think, just a guess?

But your standard email account should work, do they have a tech support number, find it, I'll call them. :cray:

I was finally able to log into the Bio Ware Forums with my same old name and password. They said first to let Steam do a "repair" of Mass Effect. They also suggested that I should download the BDtS and install it. But, since Mass Effect is in the Steam folder, BDtS can't find it so it won't install. The Forums also said NOT to install the standalone patch because it's not compatible with the Steam version and will frak it up.

I suppose I can download it again from D2D. They don't care how many times you download it, and my "CD" key still works.

But everyone still keeps saying "Windows 7! Windows 7! Windows 7! Not our fault!!!!!!!" To which I keep replying, "Errrr, 'scuse me, but y'all are supposed to be getting ready because Windows 7 is just a few months away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Which is really the only reason I have any bad feelings towards Steam, I still think they are the best at what they do. With so many millions of members and how many millions of downloads even a .0001% of error is a lot. Which is why I contact them with any problems I have and they respond in a timely manner.

Oh, well, I have a lot of other things going on right now anyways. Back burner for games for a few days. ;) Chris.

Steam lives in the old shool XP world. For sure. I recently sent them an email explaining gamers are gaming on Vista and WIN7

will be the Most used OS, bar none, so they need to get with the times. They are Good with Vista at least, WIN7 they suck at.

Yes I told them that. XP is going out to Pasture so just let it dies in peace. RIP. Then again XP is the Best OS for Pirating software,

so it'll always have it's place. Long story short they Really need to Concentrate on WIN7, it will be the most popular OS, easily within

a years time, if not sooner. Then again most folks were scared of Vista, and never ran it. Sad as it's the best OS we have now.

What I'm getting at is the majority of Steam Users run XP. So it's geared to run XP Games. DX9 and XP. lets face it as long as all

our games are ports from the consoles that can only run DX9, we won'y see crap for DX10 games, let alone DX11 in Win7. When I

first saw DX11 in Win7 I almost fell out out of my chair. DX11, yeah, ok. Unless the next, nest Gen Consoles us DX11 we won't see any DX11

PC games, or very very few, if at all. DX10 is fine. It just needs to be used.

Remember too that the majority of Steam Gamers run a 256 mg GFX card STILL. But they want to reach the widest audience

and the Widest audience is Dx9 and 256 mg GFX, unfortunately. Steam and there Tech requirements are set by the users, not the games.

IMHO. ;) :D

All I know is when WIN7 hits the selves, Steam had better get in GEAR!!

Blue

Check this Steam Hardware/Software Survey 2009!!

Here's a Link, should work if you have a Steam Account:: http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

As you can see XP=55% of Steam users, until that number changes to 50% WIN7/Vista 64 bit. Things will be

wonky, I think, well kinda, all my Steam games run fine on Vista, funny they don't even mention WIN7.

Blue

Should have put this in your Steam, thread. But I think WIN7 is indeed the issue with all Steam games.

They don't officially even support WIN7, I also think everyones going win7 CRAZY, TO EARLY.

For Crying out loud, it's not even on Store selves yet, in a Year Win7 will be EVERYWHERE, but not now. :rules:

Re: EA Games and Bio Ware = shit

Postby Mr. Chris » Mon Aug 31, 2009 4:17 pm

Funny that you resurrected this Topic. Bio Ware and Steam have both regained my confidence. EA, however, is still shit and always will be.

For a few different reasons I joined the Steam Forums yesterday. Holy shit. I could get lost and Post for days on that Forum! So many hundreds of games! And, of course, I can offer advice on a lot of them :o  :? ;) :P  Good advice, of course. :P

So I did get Mass Effect straightened out. Got BDtS. Got the new patch. Even got the new DLC, "Pinnacle Station", which is a blast! But that was thanks to both Steam and Bio Ware. Not EA.

EA still sux balls. Big, hanging Donkey Balls. And they don't care that they have Donkey hair on their face. All they want is money. More money. And more money. And to buy up all the little guys so they can make more money. It is what it is. Chris.
