Saw this at TRP (thanks, Wizzard!) As the title says, it's a tool from MS that you can run on your PC and it will tell you how well (or even if) your PC/ laptop will run Win 7:

Use this the other day before I ordered my copy of Win7 at Newegg. The only thing it said I needed to do was update my Creative X-Fi card with Win7 drivers. No worries though Microsoft already took care of it and there is a Microsoft Beta Driver for Win7 hosted on Creative Labs own website. So if Creative lets us down, Microsoft's got it covered.
