Just installed the EVGA 9500 GT and with the default drivers, my Vista performance score was 4.8 for desktop and 5.3 for gaming.
I downloaded and installed the latest drivers from EVGA's site and made some modifications in the Nvidia control panel and now my desktp score is 5.0.
This should probably be just fine until I build a new rig around Windows 7 or 8 depending on which version becomes the more standard. (i.e. 98 vs. 2000)
Note: unistalliing the ATI drivers was a real pain. I had to boot into safe mode to keep the system from loading the CCC stuff [Catalyst Control Center]. Until I completely deleted all the ATI drivers, my system wouldn't let me install Nvidia drivers - 'error, your system does not have any hardware compatible with these drivers, set up will now exit'].
Thanks everyone. I'll be back when Windows 7 and then 8 come out....
