Nvidia Networking Controller?

Support for boards with a Nvidia chipset

Nvidia Networking Controller?

Postby Mr. Chris » Tue May 12, 2009 6:16 pm

Windows Update is offering me an update for this one, IIRC, it's the one I didn't install because it messes things up? This isn't the NIC driver, right? Everything is working fine right now as it is and I try not to intentionally screw things up just because WU says there is an update available. ;)

Or maybe it's the Nvidia Mass Storage driver that I didn't install because that one had/ has issues? Cripes, it's been so long since I built this rig I really don't remember. Or it could just be Old Timer's disease (CRS) kicking in. Again. :P Chris.

I play by a simple rule.

If they didnt make the device, I dont need them offering to update it.
If its working, then why do I need to update it.
If I update it, do I have a file to re-updown it.
Whats broke, what will be broke.

Guess thats more than 1 rule, but I see it as 1 simple rule "Dont F with it if there isnt anything Fn wrong" :P

Couldnt tell you the number of people that show up on the nVidia forums with issues after updating. Worst ones are generally those that were instructed to uninstall the previous drivers prior, they lose the keyboard / mouse. Then when they get it all fixed, 1 Lan device is missing completely, or their SATA RAID keeps becoming corrupted.

So they downgrade, their still missing a Lan device, but their SATA RAID is working again.
