got a new blue screen and need help on it

Postby SCAVENGER1 » Thu May 07, 2009 3:09 am

not sure what to say or were to start. but i guess it started today right after i stop playing L4D. i end and went to the quit game and after it stayed at the screen for a bit i had some weird sounds and then poof this pops up
Image
not sure why it did but it did. i ran vista mem test and did a chkdisk as well which all came threw good with no error to report.

i did check via manage via right click on Computer/Management/Event Viewer i had many events that startle me and that i was unaware of as well.
Image
there is a lot of these and i have no clue as to how to get rid of them. and what it say to do, to update the firmware? i am not sure of how or were to get that from or what it is asking.

i figure since this is a abit mobo im in the right place to ask this question and the right people can lead me to the right place to get the right answer to my question. well that is my hope there of. since this is the 2nd blue screen i have had playing L4D so far both of which have been different. and i even had a game lock up with the sound and screen going funky on me to. but then it went ok after wards.

but i do have the newest sound driver for my card and everything that i no of is the latest as well. like for the mobo i went to abit just last month for the chip set and nic to make sure i had the newest since i was not sure i had so i dl them and installed them. beside the newest DX and other stuff. not sure of what this error is asking of me and this kernel what ever it is and what it does . i am unsure of as well.

These guys seem to think it's a video driver bug: http://www.faultwire.com/solutions_bsod ... -1074.html
Google has about 3 thousand different hits: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ST ... h&aq=f&oq=
These guys say: http://www.tech-forums.net/pc/f9/how-tr ... rs-193301/ "STOP 0x0000003B or SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

This is a Windows Executive character-mode STOP message. It indicates an exception was raised in a system service which was not handled by the system service. If this is the first time you have booted after installing new hardware, remove the hardware and boot again. Check the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List to verify that the hardware and its drivers are compatible with Windows."

It's all as clear as mud to me. Chris.

Try downloading the latest memtest and running it. It still could be memory related Or the memory on the video card that memtest does not test.

well the ram i have install is the same ld ram i have had since i built this system with a Intel in it. and i tested it with memtest back then. before i even ran both sticks. and even after i had all 4 stick i had install i didnt get these blues before which is weird. but from what i read that it could be a hard drive issue yet. which wont surprise me none. since vista is installed on 2 seagates that 1 has been sent in twice so far for the same thing.

bad sectors!!

which i may run seatool to see if this is the case if it does i will not be happy at all. even though it is the older seagate drive sata 150 but still to have the same drive go bad twice once a yr  is not good at all.if i could i would buy 2 new sata drive to run raid 0 on and i am not sure what brand to go with. since WD are not that quite and they vibrate a lot still. since my extrenal drive has a 500gig super ata in it and it really vibrates my desk when it running.

so the only drive i have ever gotten has been seagate so they are the one i like. but now they are no longer a 5yr warranty they are down to 3 yr like the rest.

that the 1 bad thing about blue screens they are so open end they cover everything. but thats M$ for us though but since i seen MAC and could not figure 1/2 of it out or were crap was at. lolim stuck

SCAVENGER1 are you getting this on both OS or just on Vista. On Vista it could almost be anything and On XP it is mostly memory. I had a blue screen about 4 months ago and it was one my video cards. I'm just throwing this out at you but the game could be pushing the video card or cpu to it's limit. If it is only happenning when you run this game there is only two things that it could be video card or you cpu. When people have a problem with a game 99% of the time they think it is video. But the cpu is a really big part of gaming. So again in Vista it could almost be anyhting.

yeah so far it is on vista and just this game so far. since i havent been in xp yet for a bit. and i dont have steam install on xp either. and now i just installed the new wqhl driver 185.85 and now i got a blue screen stop:0000124 error code from running the clear sky bench mark. which is all so on vista as well. so now i am wondering what is going on now. since it has been ell over a yr since the last time i have had any blue screens

and now i have had 3 and it has been with the last 2 or 3 gfx driver from nvidia. very weird in deed and since i have gone back to only running 4gigs of ram instead of 8gigs like before. all my over clocks are set the same since i write everything down so i dont forget what is what.

I have seen more problems with nvidia drivers then ati drivers. Yes they both have they problems. Do you have any of the old drivers to try them. I keep all of my drivers no matter how old because you never know. Plus nvidia does keep old drivers too. Do you have another video card that you can put in just to try.

i wish i did but i had to sell it since i need to money. other wise i could have. but yeah i to keep some older driver around as well mostly the one that work the best for me. and i all so go off the furtur mark web site since i put in the gfx driver and over clocks of the cpu and gpu as the title for each score i run. so i can tell which 1 ran well for me or not. also i take screen shots of certain game bench marks as well and also write down other game bench marks score as well. so i can compare them from 1 driver to another.

but this blue screen just may have been a once time deal to. since i may have seen other thing that went on as well. but i have not ran the seatool yet either. which will let me know if it is a HD problem or not.

Download the 178.24 drivers. Post back after testing those.
