Yeah HJ~

30 bucks looks like the price!!, check it out::

Googled:: http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=Cryostas ... 9hKAq0-8-0

Not Bad either, in Fact Cheap!! The Tiny Demo was way Cool, IMO. Image (Chris can we get this new Banana GIF?) :beg:

In fact BB has a Good price!! GoGamer has it (out of stock though) for 25 Bucks +Shipping:: http://www.gogamer.com/searchresults.ht ... &x=36&y=13

Hummm, very Tempting!! :cray: Just $$ is always a Pain, oh well. It is what it is.

Blue

My thinking is this, if it starts out @ 30 Bucks, if I wait 3 months or less it should be about 20 at Amazon or GoGamer.

GameStop:: http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/Product ... t_id=74029

Here's a Review of the Russian Version which was released already::

Before this game gets slammed by *official* reviews that don't see much value or quality in games that are not accompanied by truckloads of ad campaigns cash, let me just quickly say ... the game has some problems and ... the game is very likely the best atmospheric survivalist action since STALKER SoC.

Lets first address negatives:
- PERFORMANCE issues reported in Russian and EU versions are still present in the download version of the US/Worldwide version. They creep up somewhere around the middle of the game where you can suddenly experience drastic frame rates drops. Some of those drops occur in very critical times where your survival depends on the ability to respond timely and accurately. Hopefully, this will be addressed by a patch promissed to be released on April 20. In fact, this is the only, although very important, factual negative about this game ... and the rest is more or less subjective.
- VERY high end system required to experience the game as the developer (Action Forms) intended it to be experienced (some of this may be addressed with the patch tho)
- MOVEMENT controls and game mechanics are somewhat outdated and feel stiff. No take cover system, no leaning has been implemented. However, this may have been done on purpose. The movement speed (walk) is just a notch slower than it should be even when the given extreme environmental conditions are considered.
- WEAPONS zoom (ironsights zooming) in the aim mode is a way too strong. This is the only negatively surprising developer's decision that somewhat distracts from the extreme realism of firearms in this game.

On the positive side:
- THE game is made for PC (not a porting job)
- DELIBERATE slow-paced atmospheric survivalist action that immerses you into your own sense of isolation, fear and desperation amidst deadly environmental conditions and hostile mutated creatures
- EXCELLENT weapons realism (design, firing, loading, reaction time, recoil) that only further contributes to the sense of overwhelming odds stacked against you and creeping thoughts that you'll never make it through. While some peeps will hate this, I personally like that there is no reticule in the hip mode of shooting.
- STRONG story-driven gameplay, that only gradually reveals itself and culminating at the very end. During the game you'll sometimes wonder whether there is a point to all this ... but if you survive you'll be rewarded at the end. One of the best, thought-provoking endings.
- SOME very well executed original ideas contributing to the sense of methodical planning on the developer's part and not adding pieces as an afterthought. While at times things may appear repetitive, carefully looking around will make you realize that each level and each space while similar to other confined spaces on the ship is different and offers a different challenge.

Overall, this a wonderful game that is hard to classify in any particular category. It is played in the first person, but it's not a typical shooter. Horror is present, but it's not a typical horror game either. Keep your mind open without the need to categorize this game and you'll have a good time. Yet, it must be said that this game is not for everybody -- if you are looking for a fast-paced action shooter ... then stay away from this game. This game is just the opposite -- deliberately slow pace ... giving you time to realize how desperate, almost hopeless, your situation is. The survival fights are realistic given that the character you are playing is a person without highly specialized combat skills (as is usually the case in other FPS games) moving in a deeply frozen environment trying to figure out what happened and what's going on while barely staying alive. Audio is top notch. Graphics are on par with the best with some specialized outputs for ice and water. For no apparent reason AtmosFear 2.0 game engine reminded me on Black Element's Enforce2 engine where the interiors are rendered superbly while the outdoors have significant room for improvement. If the upcoming fixes/patch resolve the performance issues this will be one game that could easily range anywhere between 8.5 and 10/10 depending on the user's preferences.

Overall score: 8.2/10.

Man the new videos look SWEET!!

Looky, Looky, what Santa got me!!

Image

OMG!!! My Bro Bought this @ BB, but his RIG won't run it well, so he sent it to me!! :yahoo:

Man the Game is Awesome so far havn't taken any Shots yet but, have it dialed in, if your rig

doesn't meet the System Requirements, it simply will not RUN, end of story!!

Look::

• Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon Dual Core 5200+
• 256 MB 3D Hardware Accelerator Card with Shader 3.0 support
• Video Card (ATI): Radeon HD 3870
• Video Card (Nvidia): Geforce 8800 GT
• Memory: 2 GB RAM

Those are from the ReadMe file from the game 1c Company. They are being real lenient here

this game takes some POOP, to run. But so far so GOOD!! Looks GREAT too :Bananas: :clapping:

I'm going back in!!

Blue

Over....and out.... ;)

What I think the Sys Req are::

*Intel 3HGz or AMD Dual Core.
*512 Meg Ram Video, NV or ATI w/DX10 Shader Model 4. 4780 or 8800GT.
*XP- 2 MIN GIGs RAM, Vista 4 GIGs.

:!:

Here's a Couple Real Quick shots.

Image

Image

I have it set @ 1600X w Maxed all, but shadows so far, seems fine, but then I just started the game

we shall see, I have read that the Game chugs on Older Systems?? :hmm:

This Game is way different than most, I'll say that much, but in a Great Way!!

For one thing it's made for the PC ONLY!! It has Quick Save, Load!! :9:

You can now download a Playable Demo at Gamespot, link above someplace.

You have to stay warm, byt Holding your Hands up to a Heat source, there are many.

Even a Light bulb will bring your Warmth Meter up. It seems kinda slow moving but it's not the FPS,

rather it's the game design. Lots of Melee Fighting. The Ice and Snow look so AWESOME!! :D

I just cranked everything up, period, runs fine::

Image

Here's just a Couple other shots for kicks, get this game it ROX!! :mail:

Lock and Hand
Image

Lots of B&W Cut Scenes
Image

COOL GAME!! Beats FC2 Easy, IMO

Spoiler shots coming, Fair Warning.

I say this so if you plan on getting this GREAT game, stay clear of this thread as I will

be posting some shots, not many but some. It reality you can see all of the GFX on the web, as well.

This game is gaining Popularity like crazy. No AIM recticle either, pretty cool, acn't think of ONE FPS

that does not use them. Can you??

Here's just a Shot I took of Nothing that will give away the game, ok. ;) F12 is the Built in Screenshot key,

I use fraps. Though I know one thing about Cryo, it doesn't like anything running in the background. So be

aware of this. Just a Heads UP. ok. :P

Image

There are some areas that are warm, it's not all ICE. :D

Blue

Then again if you want to see what the Game looks like View this Thread, the choice is yours....

PC ONLY!! GAME!!

So 360 and PS3 need not apply, LOL!! The game is not a Fast paced game either, you'll move like you would

in real life on a Frozen Ice Breaker Ship. @ 20 Degrees below.   :good:

About ready to Clear Chapter 8, in Cryostasis :D

What a COOL A$$ game!! All I have to say, (yeah right).

I was reading the Forums for this game, they all cry about how hard it is on

your PC, BS, runs fine, lags a Little here and there but no big Deal, besides

they have a patch on the way. Some folks just like to B1tch I guess. I wouldn't

suggest trying to run this game with 2 GIGs of Ram, that's Insane!! Video card

has to have a Minimum of 512 Ram. At least a 3 GHZ CPU, and so on.

You can't run a bunch of crap in the background either, but then I never do :Cheeky:

Couple Shots...CRYOSTASIS is something else!!

One of them Crazy Dead Kinda Crew Members, LOL!!
Image

More later... :P Love my AXE, I'm getting Pretty Damn Good with it too!!

Blue :yahoo:

I Sneaked up on Dude here and Axed the Crap outta him!! :D
Image

Love the Sniper Rifle it totally ROX!!

Re: Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason~Steam Version!!

Postby BlueMonster » Fri May 08, 2009 4:55 am

Yeah Buddy Cryostasis is on Steam, 26 bucks!!

Image

Great Price, for a Wonderful Russian game. As with many 1c Games, it has Welders in it.

There are a lot of Welders in Russia, and man the Crew of the North Wind is Really cool.

anyhow, Steam says it's not completable with XP64bit or Vista 64bit, that's odd as it runs fine

on my PC with Vista HP 64bit, Vista HP 64 bit has 32 bit as well, so that makes Zero sense.

They also say you need a Dual Core CPU, not true either. Also they say a 256meg Vid cards all you need

that's a Flat out Lie!! :P To run this game properly I'd say as I mentioned before, a 3Ghz Dual Core or

Single Core CPU, a Vid card with at least 512 memory!! Xp or Vista, doesn't matter, Vista for DX10.

NV cards are best if you use the PhysX, some don't and say you don't need too, I do. ATI cards will run it fine

with PhsyX Disabled. So either ATI or NV will work great, NV IMO, best. Not cuz I'm a Fanboy, but it's build

around the NV PhysX engine. I imagine NV helped finance this Game, and my hats off to them for doing so

as 1c is not a BID DEV team or Company period, they are poor when Compared to UbiSoft and so on. Though

Russian PC games are built with LOVE, you can tell. Also this game has some really cool never done before features.

It's very pretty in the GFX department, some say it looks outdated, no, that's jsut the Russian Dev team, and how they roll.

I am addicted to this game and adore it, some will cry, B1tch and Moan, a lot I'm sure, they already are. There is a Patch

scheduled for release shortly as it lags about half way into the game in some areas, BIG Deal!! They Cry cuz the Patch is not

out yet, myself would much rather wait for a Great Patch than one they just through together. You can Bet the Steam

version will run Great!! The Steam Version of FO3 is AWESOME!! So is Dark Sector, what a killer SP game, Cyro is also

SP only!! I love that action. The story is one of the best I've seen in any game ever. Yep it has a REAL story. Great Cut scenes,

Flashbacks, far out Colors, beautiful Water FX and ICE FX!! In my Book it's a 9 game or 90%. As it is so cool. the sound FX are a 10!!

Plus it HAS QUICK SAVE Dammit, PC games should all have Quick save no exception period!!

Image

The Snow FX, the Best ever!! Well Crysis too!! So there you have it. You'll love this game IF, you have an open mind.

No it's not a RUN and GUN game, you run as you would in real life, you walk as you would in Real life. So if your looking for a game

where you don't have to think and RUN 100 MPH all the time, don't get Cyrostasis, but if your into a GREAT game made by a Great

Russian DEV team, look no Further than Cryostasis!!

I ever say, I'm a PC Gamer, through and Through :yahoo:

Here's a Shot of Dude with the Dual MG's, I didn't have time to

sanp his shot while in Battle, as ya really gottta be on the Ball

to kill a lot of the Monsters on the North Wind!! Played some Bad

A$$ areas tonight, on Chapter 10 or so I think ;)

Image

These guys are Blasting at me Full on!! Oh BTW there's only one setting

Freeze your A$$ off and TRY and Live!! :!:

I'm using the New NV 185.85 WQHL Drivers now did a Full Display Driver Sweep before installing, did it all in safe mode

Same with NV Newest PhysX Driver, installed fresh, in Safe mode. These Drivers Rock!! :yahoo: Cryostasis Loves them

and it Loves Having Clean Fresh Installed Drivers with no other Driver to conflict with, Have the game dialed in TITS!! :!:

I also found out after Cleaning my Display Driver perfectly, my EvGa Precission Tool works 100% better!! :9:

Couple more shots and it's time for a Visit with the Sandman!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..... ;)

You Actually get cold playing this game, here's my ship, the Icebreaker North Wind.
Image

Cute Little Doggy, OMG I had to deal with around 5 of these Mutts!!
Image

One of the Dead Shipmates, a Rifle and my Trusty AXE!!
Image

Some areas on the Ship are warmer (no Ice), some FREEZING COLD!! (tons of Ice) :P

TOP PIC, Freezing Cold, Middle PIC, Cold as Hell, bottom, Just a tad Cold. :D
