PC activity leds slow to startup on the surfboard modem

Postby cas » Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:12 am

Been using the Motorola SURFboard SB5101 for nearly 2-3 years and out of no where now i encounter the Leds for the PC/Activity took sometime to startup say about 5 minutes or more. Used to bootup fine with all the leds turn on once i on the modem and pc. Other than that the rest of the green leds are fine.

Hmm don't tell me the surfboard is going hay wire? Image

2 to 3 years? For a modem, that's a pretty long time. Could be the power supply inside is failing. You could just leave it on all the time, we do that with our modem, but then again, there are 4 people using the Internet here so we all need access at any time of the day. Chris.

If you're not living on the edge, you are taking up too much room

Unplug the power and try again. Should take between 30secs - 2min to obtain all lights unless there is a power issue with the signals.

Lastest update, the issue seem to be my dlink router instead. I unplug it from the router port and plug it directly to the modem and the other end to my pc and the pc activity leds bootup immediately

Comes to mind i've accidentally drop the router a few time before......
