Vista 64-bit Network Card

Postby RubberDuck » Tue Apr 21, 2009 10:02 pm

I'm looking for a Vista 64-bit compatible network card. I looked at Linksys & Netgear { only ones I have ever used } and neither are Vista 64 compatible. What do you folks recommend :?: :?: I don't want to pay a arm & a leg for it eather. Just need a 10/100 card.

I have been really happy with TrendNet equipment, not expensive and works right out of the box. This one looks like it works with almost everything: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6833156107
Or this one even better with Gigabit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 24f8dce995
You won't even need drivers for these cards, Windows will find the card and install drivers.

Both say Vista, but not 64 bit specifically. But they should work. When you look at the specs, don't confuse where it says "bus = 32 bit PCI 2.2" as not being 64 bit compatable. All PCI buss' are 32 bit regardless if the version of Windows is 32 or 64 bit. Kinda confusing. Chris.
1)Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3, FX4100 Bulldozer, 8Gb G Skill Sniper 1866, EVGA GTX560Ti, 2x 500Gb SATA II, DVDRW, Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit RTM
2)stupid board died already *pfffftttt*
3) AX78, Phenom 9600, 2Gb OZC PC6400, EVGA 9800GTX, CDRW/DVD, CM CP600PCAR 600W, XP Pro Sp2

If you're not living on the edge, you are taking up too much room

Pretty much what Chris said....

Read the reviews

Other Thoughts: Was furious this didn't have Vista drivers. Went to Linksys site and they said "Not Compatible." Noticed the Realtek chip on the card so I tried the Realtek drivers that came with Vista 64 and VOILA, it worked fine!!!

Realtek is on alot of cards. My DLinks from a few years ago are Realteks. Odd thing is one got mucked and identified itself as Realtek in the Device manager while the other system still identified it as DLINK 530 or something like that.
