Windows 7 32bit to 64bit???

Postby lynmar » Tue Apr 07, 2009 2:10 pm

I have been working Windoes 7 on my laptop and like it.
My PC has the Abit board that I noted here when asking about using Guru under Vista Business.
I was thinking about moving the system up to 64bit.
Is it time to make the move or wait for a few more years?
Thanks in advance.

Is that the AA8 with the P4 520 in it? I'm not sure what Intel CPU's can run 64 bit, I know Celeron's can't. Either way, Win 7 is still very much Beta, expect RTM either very late this year or early next year. I have the 64 bit Win 7 on this KN9 SLI rig with the X2 6400+, which is a 64 bit CPU, so it runs fine. All the standard Abit drivers as well as Realtek sound and Nvidia stuff all has 64 bit drivers so they all work fine. For gaming tho, any Open GL games don't work yet. They look like crap. And since this is my main gaming rig, I went back to Vista Home Premium 32 bit where I already know all my programs and games work fine. Chris.

Yes it is the P4 530.
I think I had best discuss this with my grandsons (gamers) before making any moves.
They use this machine when visiting.
I have an ASUS laptop so I will talk to them about this idea.
Thank you for the help.
