Thinking caps on boys / girls.

Ok, here is the problem....

Little old lady had a computer that I kept running for her for the last 2 years. Between viruses and shoehorning drivers and programs....Running win95 because that is what she knew.

Last week she got a new Computer...VISTA, but she has a few programs she liked from Win95. One was called BOB.

Was thinking of VMing Win95(is this possible?) and trying to figure out a way to OPEN the VM file and insert her old Win95 data for BOB.

Now, If I can find BOB for install, is there a way to open the VM file and insert her old data in the correct folders so she does not lose that?
IF push came to shove, any way to doe a Reinstall using the VM and an IMAGe from save an old Norton Ghost? OR did we not have one that worked with Win95?

If I remember right "Bob" was an OS. I played with Vm a while back, You have the right idea. Install the VM and install the OS and programs to it and import the other as necessary . I think you will need to install drivers too .

BOB

Was hoping there was a diff way. Hoping I could just image her HD and then kinda INSTALL that thru VM. But then the drivers would be incorrect.

Have you tried 'compatability mode' ?

I have managed to get a few older programmes running with this - it seems to work better in Vista than it did in XP!

I agree, but that only works IF the older program will install. Some of the Installers look at the version of Windows and simply won't install. But, I have actually gotten several older games that wouldn't run on XP let alone W2K to install and run fine on Vista. Chris.

Well right now, unless I can locate the install disks, Im gonna have to dissect the OS and files. Hoping its in a folder and runs from within.

Gonna have to wait till I got some time :)
