Crysis Warhead upcoming Patch 1 details revealed

http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?optio ... 4&Itemid=1

64-bit mode, fixes and tweaks

Our friends at inCrysis have given us juicy details in their latest monthly update regarding what to expect in Crysis Warhead's first patch, which will be releasing very soon.

The first remarkable tweak to the game will be better dynamic texture support for Enthusiast mode, which is the highest settings option available in the game. Secondly, the famous Timedemo that we enthusiasts like to benchmark with can now be started from the command line. As for those with Windows Vista, unrequested launches in windowed mode should occur less often now, and the mouse cursor should no longer have an offset in the menu. Both of these issues have bothered many people, and we are thankful that CryTek has responded to its audience with a fix.

As far as new features are concerned, we know of one that has been long awaited by gamers and enthusiasts alike, and with a warm welcome of our appreciation is it finally here: 64-bit mode. CryTek added 64-bit executables for Windows XP x64 and Windows Vista x64, however we're sure that the Vista executable will also work with Windows 7 x64 beta. In Windows XP x64, a new shortcut will be placed under the Crysis Warhead program group. In Windows Vista, users can right-click the Crysis Warhead icon in Game Explorer and choose to run the game in 64-bit mode.

On another note, there is only one known issue with the patch. Games saved in 32-bit won't work properly when running the 64-bit version and vice-versa. Yet, the fun with improvement patches like these is that the game is always re-playable to say the least.

These are the full patch notes as seen in the readme file with the patch. After applying it, the version displayed in the lower right corner of the game menu is 1.1.1.710. There is still no set release date for this first patch, but we will definitely stay informed with any announcements made.

I just started Crysis Warhead about 2 weeks ago, but I've only played it a couple of hours. Does the new patch mean that I should start the game over from the beginning? Not a big deal if so.

It reads like if you started the game in 32 bit mode, then switch to 64 bit, your saved games from 32 bit won't work.

I played the game back when it first came out for a few hours, but was having big problems getting the different suit modes to work, and there were also issues with textures not drawing in until you got real close to them, so I put the game aside and haven't gone back yet. I may have to give it a try with the new patch, but I'll have to download it again from Direct To Drive :( Chris.

When I first installed the game it would lock up my computer just trying to set the controls and options. I upgraded to driver 181.20 and it worked just fine, although i also get the "textures not drawing" until I get close. Honestly, Crysis ran much better and had better eye candy than Warhead. I think I'll install the patch and move up to driver 181.22 and start the game over from the beginning.

Crysis got a lot of criticism, but I loved it. Maybe the critics were people with low-end pc's that couldn't play it well, idk.

Really? Every reiview I read of the game said the graphics were even better than the original as well as the physics? Its main criticism was how short it was although it's priced that way. Haven't played it myself yet though. Just finished Far Cry 2 for the second time, Dead Space 2 or 3 times and working on Fallout 3 which looks like a long one.

I agree with you about the original Crysis. I thought it was outstanding as well and played it through more than once.

Well I installed the patch, and installed the new driver, but I'm getting lockups in the game. I turned the settings up to Gamer, so maybe I'll move back to Mainstream to see if it helps. I thought my 8800GT would be ok. idk

Do you have your card overclocked at all? With the original Crysis I had to drop my overclock down a bit because the game was so hard on the card.

Yes, it is overclocked, but only slightly. I'll turn it down a bit and see what happens.
Thanks
