Fatality AN9 32X OC FSB Settings Problem

Postby moto377 » Mon Dec 13, 2010 1:48 am

I have an issue when OC my CPU. If I set the FSB to anything higher than default 200 MHz, when I go into the BIOS is calculates CPU speed based on 200 Mhz and not what I set. See attached pic - as you can see it shows 215Mhz x 14 = 2800 when it should read a 3010 Mhz. Here is the strange part - if I exit the BIOS and restart, the second time I go into the BIOS it reads the correct value. So, every time I shut down my PC, I first must hit DEL and go into the BIOS and choose exit without saving. Then I can let it boot into Windows which will be at the right speed.

Any reason why, when I power down my PC and then turn it on, it does not see 215Mhz during the first pass but the second pass? Any suggestions?

Thank you

Is version 19 the latest BIOS for the board? And have you ever replaced the CMOS backup battery on the board?

Not sure what else to suggest. Could just be a quirk of the board. The Raptor Pit has some former Abit forum guys. Not too many ever signed up here, or even visit, unfortunately.

Could a psu do that. Looks like a ultra psu.

Ha ha old abit guys would say first thing. It might be the ultra psu. Most would rather fall on their heads versus using ultra stuff. I am 1 of them.

I had my share of ultra and tiger direct hell.. :P :D

The 5v rail went out on my ultra on day 32.. And 2 1/2 years of hell after that for my rma.. Yep- id rather fall on my head versus ever have anything to do again with ultra and tiger.. :P

It is an Ultra PSU, and I got it before I knew PSUs mattered...

Initially I purchasd their cheap model, it died and Ultra upgraded me to their "Pro" version which I must say I have had no problems with. Can certainly tell by the specs and quality of the harnesses and plugs that it was intended to be higher end. Not that I would buy one again...

So, you had the same problem I am having and then back flashed to BIOS 16? Any issues when flashing backwards?

Thanks!

Shouldn't be an issue going back to an older BIOS version. I had to do that with the Abit KN9 SLI board I had. V.21 was unstable, rolled back to v.19 and it ran fine. BUT, BIOS flashes can be tricky. Make sure to have all the clock and voltage settings at stock before flashing. I actually used the Abit utility in Windows to flash mine, even tho a lot of people say not to do it that way. You could also order a BIOS chip with the version you want from Biosman.
