Singularity game!

Postby Mr. Chris » Sat Feb 28, 2009 4:37 pm

Saw a trailer on TV last night for this one while watching Battlestar: Galactica. It looks intense! http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2008/0 ... for-pc.htm There's a trailer there, more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singularity_(video_game) Dev is Raven Software, pub is Activision. Q3 engine so it should be good. Fall of this year, should give me time to finish a few of these "old" games I still haven't finished. Chris.

With all the piracy carp they put on pc games, I have trouble getting excited about any of them. and I never bought into a 360 / Playstation because of the price and hype.

I watched 2 demos, the first was too action packed and fast to see anything. The second showed the environment but not really the game.

But the premise / storyline sounds like it would make a good movie.

Just got this game, "Singularity" and it prolly one of the best shooters I have played. Man, what an awesome game! Only playing the SP but still, it's just really done right. Not one glitch. 1920x1080 all the bells and whistles on.

I'm about 2 hours into it now, just got the shotgun and I have the assault rifle. You can only carry 2 weapons so the pistol had to go. Assault and shotty both do nice damage to the mutants. I have yet to get to the other "singularity" weapon.

Quite a few on the Steam Forums are complaining about missing textures in the game when you get about 4 or 5 hours in, but I have yet so see anything wrong. They all seem to have ATI cards. I said maybe it's an issue with your card, and they just came back and said that I am stupid. Nice bunch of idiots over there. :?

Seems like most finish the game in 10 hours or so. Some say 6 hours. It will prolly take me about 10. It does have MP but I haven't tried it out yet.

Re: Singularity game!

Last week i bought the new Raven ( Activision ) FPS video game SINGULARITY. I got to play it, and found out that it’s fantastic, inventive, refreshing, brutal, and frankly, the most fun I’ve had with an FPS in a long time. !!!

Image

Singularity's main gameplay device is an artifact known in the game as the TMD (Time Manipulation Device). This device is powered by a very small E-99 core, and can manipulate timespace on a virtually limitless scale. The TMD can move an object backwards or forwards in time, attract something and hold it indefinitely, or send a pulse of energy that can stun or even kill enemies. The only weakness is that the TMD powers can be applied only to living beings or objects that have been in contact with E-99 (supposedly, almost everything on Katorga-12 is imbued with the element, but in practice, the TMD can only affect a limited set of objects). Some living beings, like the Spetsnaz Elite troopers who are covered in a heavy armor designed to repel E-99, are immune as well. The TMD can also be used in conjunction with special power stations scattered across the island that greatly amplify its power. In some instances, the player can use this to restore entire ruined bridges or wrecked ships to their pristine state in order to progress. However, these major alterations are highly unstable and will begin to revert almost immediately, forcing the player to dash through the restored structures as they start to decay and collapse around him.

You can slow down time for individual enemies, leaving everything else (including yourself) running at full speed. You can throw time dilation bubbles into the combat area, turning bad guys into frozen sitting ducks. You can pump them full of bullets, then deactivate the bubble and watch as every shot catches up at the same time. You can use that same bubble as a shield, to slow down incoming fire.

You can rapidly age enemies to death. You can devolve them into zombies and let them do the work for you. You can shockwave them into the air. You can shockwave them into the air, freeze them in time, then devolve them into zombies, and unfreeze them just as one of their friends gets close. Oh, and did I mention that you also have a gravity gun? And a sniper rifle with bullets you can steer manually? And a railgun that works like Gears of War’s Torque Bow? And that every skirmish area is a wide, multi-levelled playground of tactical angles of attack, designed to bring out every ounce of creative violence in your body?
