metro 2033 is said to be out 3-16-2010. it looks like a cool game from thq.. looks a lot like stalker- best i understand its a lot like stalker- fallout3- borderlands and rage type games- a combo fps/rpg game.

i think this is the thq metro 2033 home.it has a nice trailer video and some more screen shots of the game.>

Metro 2033â„¢ - PC

this is a cool article- Fallout 3 vs. Metro 2033..>

Fallout 3 vs. Metro 2033 - PC feature - at IGN

Image

i hope it will not be buggy like stalker gsc games- i know frontlines fuel of war was a good game out of the box for me and on steam to boot. worked and looked great- no problems at all..

Image

the engine for metro is said pretty good too- will be dx 9-10 at first and then dx11 later for metro.. i really like this type of game. i guess it has become my favorite genre combo fps-rpg that is..

after i get bioshock 2 i will start saving my money for metro and rage and maybe borderlands. well- maybe a borderlands goty with added dlc's and from steam. im thinking fallout3 goty on steam too..

have fun- see ya:)

this 1 needs a lil polish. write ups say its buggy. but thq can make some good games. if they polish this it should be fine.

from what i read its a lil more hard than say a stalker or fo3. but hard- skin of your teeth survival is not a bad thing..

I see it's out for pre order on Steam, $49.99 with a free copy of Red Faction Guerrilla. Release date is in March. Looks interesting.

THQ seems hit and miss, at least as far as my tastes go. I never got into Stalker, I loved Frontlines. But this one looks good. Hmm, who could I "gift" RFG to if I pre order this? ;)

chris. you might want to wait and order this..

the write ups say its a bit buggy.. if thq polish it it should be ok. maybe they can learn what gsc did to make stalker cop to run so well..

but. metro is said a good game same favor as stalker or fo3. but metro is said harder. and what you need most is what you use for money to trade with is [bullets].. i dont know how hard it is. thats what i read.. so. maybe this game would be more for a hard core stalker fan.. which i love stalker.. but if metro is all buggy.. i can skip it until it cost less.. i do think thq would be better about patching than gsc.. but they say stalker cop runs perfect out of the box.

its like you say- you never really liked the stalker games-- i think the first 1 being so buggy spoiled it for folks.. but it got better. stalker you had to baby it along so it would not crash.. but the game could be slow for folks too - and had to move around so much inventory and stuff. and some people never really got a chance to learn how to play it right.. but for others the bugs and having to baby it. and just the story and atmospher and game play and massive world just loved it.. the game has- like a spirit or something. even being buggy kind of endears ya to it.. well for some folks any way..

ha ha them mass effect type games more confuse and run me crazy-- some folks like stalker- some like both stalker and me and all other games.. as they say to each his own.. but you might want to wait and see if its buggy before you buy- but id guess thq will fix any problems.. if it is a 40 dollar game like most stalker games thats not bad i guess..

i will get metro some day.. i might even get clear sky.. cs has been patched and i think its like 10 bucks now.. so. i will have to get it some day and make some movies..

see ya :D

I think METRO 2033 will be better than Stalker myself, it being based on a Russian Novel and all.

Looks like they use the same engine though, X-RAY Engine. It's aboy living underground in the subways, etc,

20 years after a Nuclear Holocaust. I like the game or what I've seen of it, and getting a FREE copy of RFG is

Awesome, they are already making RFG2 too!! :9: RFG is well worth 30 bucks or so, and Metro 2033 about the same.

COP looks like it'll be the best so far for the Stalker fans. but then it'll have some bugs yep. Then patches and so on.

I have RFG and LOVE it!! :D It runs great now. With the latest patches, but then it really always ran good for me. ;)

GAMESPOTS REVIW=8.0 (Ten Hours to rush through it) me, 20+ :bye:

================================================

Beneath a frozen city ruined long ago by its own weapons of destruction, humankind clings to survival. In dirty overcrowded stations, women haggle for scraps at the market as old men mourn the world they lost and children run underfoot, knowing no life beyond their meager subterranean existence. The hardier souls stand at the gates, vigilant against the beastly offspring of Armageddon, while the bravest venture out into the tunnels to trade, scavenge, and scout the dark reaches of the man-made underground wilderness. This is the world of Metro 2033, where the oppressive atmosphere fills every corner and is so well cultivated that the relentless gloom can begin to wear you down. Yet your journey is a lengthy and intriguing one, full of dramatic moments and tense action. Particularly hectic encounters can stress the game's performance, but the richness of the environments more than makes up for any small hitches. The immersive world of Metro 2033 is not for the faint of heart, but those whose brave it will find a fresh and entertaining new adventure into the postapocalyptic future.

Making the surface safer for humanity, one abomination at a time.

And make no mistake, this future is bleak. The aforementioned station-villages are dreary, but you'll come to regard them as welcome beacons of light in the pervasive darkness of the tunnels. As you venture away from the comforting firelight and busy soundscape of the crowded stations, you enter tunnels that echo with the howls of murderous beasts, where the only illumination is provided by glowing radioactive fungi or your own headlamp. Light, or lack thereof, plays a huge role in creating Metro 2033's engaging atmosphere. Passing through a dark, foggy tunnel can be harrowing, and entering the warm glow of an electric lamp can relieve the palpable tension, until you look down and see a freshly mutilated body at your feet. Grim scenes, inescapable shadows, and an omnipresent sense of desperation help create a powerful sense of gloom and doom. Though this world is not without hope, it is a dark one, and it can be overbearing at times. Soldiering on can be difficult, but sometimes all it takes is a worn out record player to lighten your spirits. Darkness can also be your ally, providing you have some night-vision goggles handy, allowing you to sneak past foes or position yourself for a silent kill. Lightscape is just as important as landscape in Metro 2033, because not only do they combine to create the rich subterranean atmosphere, but each is an important tactical consideration.

Though much of your adventure plays out in the subway, don't expect to see the same tunnels over and over again. Human outposts are cobbled together from scrap and salvage, but there's a big difference between a bandit settlement and an entrenched military outpost. Some areas you traverse belong to the beasts, as evidenced by chewed corpses and ominously narrow dirt tunnels. Still others belong to neither men nor mutants, and the eerie silence will make you wonder what has kept them away. And just when the endless tubes are becoming too oppressive, you strap on a gasmask and venture out onto the surface to pick your way through the frigid skeleton of Moscow. Thoughtful details make exploration tempting, as does the prospect of stumbling across a dead adventurer or ammo cache ripe for the looting. Metro 2033 rewards you for paying attention to the little things, not just with precious ammunition, but with thoughtful touches that make this dilapidated world truly come alive.

Someone needs to teach that guy how to use a bayonet.

Most of the living things that you encounter on your journey are quite nasty. Winged fiends and quasi-yetis get very territorial, while loping, long-nosed beasts stage regular assaults on humans in most areas of the Metro. Theses hideous creatures are rendered in vibrant detail, and aiming down your sights into their livid, snarling faces will make you want to pull the trigger even sooner. As you travel the tunnels from station to station on your quest to deliver an important message, you have to fend off these fierce mutants who would like nothing more than to rip the flesh from your bones. Combat can be challenging, but you have a good array of weapons at your disposal. Powerful prewar weapons are rare and valuable, and clever postwar improvisations provide intriguing alternatives. Shooting mechanics are sharp and allow you to easily utilize your arsenal to slaughter your monstrous foes, and for every time that a creature keels over lamely from a killer revolver bullet, there will be two others that whip back from the impact of a headshot or tumble away from a satisfying shotgun blast.

In addition to the always enjoyable shotgun (which comes in two varieties), there are a few fun guns (like the pneumatic crossbow/revolver), and the action is usually solid enough to make combat enjoyable. Some of your fiercest enemies are your fellow men who are spurred to violence by ideology or desperation. Using stealth is a great way to get the drop on or just sneak by human enemies, and the quiet approach allows you to overhear some fascinating conversations that add interesting layers to the world. Movement mechanics are also solid, though even if you are careful to avoid making noise, shining light, and triggering traps, your movements may still alert the enemies for reasons unknown. Startled foes launch scrambled attacks that can showcase some pretty wonky AI, but for the most part you are dealing with competent foes that will vigorously try to put bullets in you. Hectic firefights can cause some slowdown, especially when a whole squad of enemies has just realized you are infiltrating their camp. How bad this is obviously depends on your system and what settings you are running, but even the worst lurches dissipate quickly, leaving you to continue fighting for your life.

The reason for all your under- and aboveground adventuring is established early on, but the vague urgency doesn't coalesce into a clear mission until much later. Though the narrative can be patchy, Metro 2033 fills in the blanks by slowly unveiling its rich, multifaceted world. Everywhere you go, from bustling stations to lonely tunnels, you will find clues that broaden and enrich your understanding. Eavesdropping on an enemy conversation will shed light on Metro mythology, while bioluminescent flora raises questions about postnuclear biology. You glean a lot of information from just paying attention, and through this observation you create a kind of patchwork, discovery-fueled narrative that eventually comes to an intriguing conclusion.

Rats chewing on a corpse? Sure, it's gross, but that guy might have some ammo on him!

Metro 2033 is a well-paced shooter that will likely take you more than 10 hours to complete. It is punctuated by emotional and dramatic moments (a surprising encounter with a child, a few intense railcar sequences), though these aren't without their own idiosyncrasies (the immersion-busting "quickly tap E" prompt). The Metro and surface worlds are superbly detailed, and though how much of this detail you see depends on your system, rest assured that the game scales well and offers impressive visuals across different settings. The pervasive atmosphere fuels your whole experience, creating a grim, enthralling world that you feel compelled to explore. Metro 2033 is a very worthwhile game for anyone craving a uniquely rewarding journey into man's dark future.

=======================================

I want it!! Always had my eye on it!!

THIS REVIEW IS FROM A STALKER FAN, Probably more on the money?

So overall I'm enjoying this game. What I was most worried about from this game was polish, ballistics and overall story.
The polish, well, could be better. I run it at normal settings (tried both DX10 and DX9) and it can chug along in heavy populated areas and even in some areas where it should have no trouble keeping a high frame rate. My rig: Intel i5 Core CPU,
4GB DDR3 RAM, 9800 GX2 GPU.

The story, okay it's not going to win any awards, to tell you the truth I have not idea what is really going on with the story right now. It does it's job and keeps things moving forward, which I guess is all you can ask from a linear action shooter like this one.

Speaking of linear, this game has that in spades, so don't expect "strike out on your own." Which isn't really a bad thing I guess, I thought it would be but it's actually okay. This game kinda of reminds me of cross between Doom 3 and Bioshock. Kind of a linear suvivor horror shooter.

Lastly are the ballistics. The guns are actually pretty decent! Yeah, when I first read about this game, I was think "oh crap, it's going to be another Bioshock with lousy guns." Well the difference here is that you don't have the special powers that that game had, so guns are pretty important. They don't jam up or any nonsense like that. They have good kick to them, but at the same time they feel like what you would probably find in post apocalyptic world.

No high tech weaponry here and overall it's fine because the game has been balanced for that. Yes you have to scrouge around for ammo, but if you using it correctly (i.e. good aiming and short burst firing), you don't need to empty your gun into opponents for them to go down.

===============================================

He Gave it a 7.0, IMO all of the Stalker games are a 5.5 at best, All becuse they don't test the final release of Stalker games correctly.

They GSC, sent games out un-finished, Not a drop of POLISH!! What I do love about the series is all their Games are so Easy to MOD.

Biggest MOD community, I've seen in any PC game, ever. GSC (or is it GCS? LOL!!) justhas no pre-release stagg I guess, cuts inr=to VODKA hour. They rely on

the MOD community to FIX all their MISTAKES, then when they are smart, they use the Excellent MODS in Newer Games, Like COP or CS.

Vanilla STALKER out of the box without it's 15 patches in place, is totally un-playable, pure LAZINESS, I'd have to think after 3!! Games, that use the same engine

though they claim it's been up-dated, I have serious DOUBTS!!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

ALL STALKER GAMES SHOULD CST TEN BUCKS NOTHING MORE (IMHO). :P

But this is METRO STALKER, a NEW GAME. Yeah ok, looks like the X-RAY Engine to me, or Cryostasis....

Does'nt mean I don't want it, I do but then I have to get COP first, Then Metro 2033, one thing for sure Great Title for a Game, think of the Series game names to follow

Metro 2034 and so on to infinity.

I'll wait either for a special on Steam or the first few patches. I read an awful lot of issues with this game on the Steam Forums. Probably one of the best places to get an honest opinion of any game, really, the ones that are playing the game will tell you what they think. Not some guy that's a paid reviewer. ;)

Agreed Chris~

I read the Game Spot reviews if they're not to damn long, sometimes they are right on the MONEY other times, NO!!

I mean they gave Stalker the buggist game EVER, a 9.0 I think, PLEASE!! Just cuz it's Russian made, IMHO. Though the

X-Ray Engine is nice no DOUBT, but then it's got it's own bugs inside the normal game BUGS, LOL!! :yahoo: IMHO Clear Sky is a Good game

if you folks got a Dope PC. To run it. Runs 10X as good as Stalker did out of the box, I think.I could do without the weight load limit at 50kilos

and Guns wearing out in the middle of a fire fight, or jamming on you!! Then the BIGGEST Lamest thing is when your in your PDA, switching out gear, map reading, bla, bla,

Anybody can Blast your Brains in or out..which ever way you look at it. Hope Metro doesn't make the same stupid mistakes.

On the other hand all Stalker games are simple to mod and have a million mods, or total Conversion mods, That can make the game playable, even fun!!

I like CLEAR SKY, myself!! I saw COP at Amazon for like ten bucks, used I think. That's the way to buy games. Dirt Cheap. Ya just have to watch close, and you can find great games cheap

folks buy them, get stuck, give up and sell, simple as that. Metro 2033 is high right now but just watch it drop in price and QUICK too.

Like AVP3, though it was a good game,Monolith did a better job in AVP2, I think. The only thing better in AVP3 is the GFX. that's it. I like Game Play a lot. All the pretty GFX can't cover up a MESSED up game

Stalker... :taunt: :taunt: ...or Damnation.

Steam and GoGamer too have GREAT sales!! I watch them all!! I spend a lot of time finding games cheap. ;)

....and there it is there...

yeah this game is way cool and is kind of like STALKER in some ways but not really. it is in Russia but that is about it and yeah you get to wear a gas mask cause you have to in a lot of areas since you have to or you die. it took me about 4 to 5 days to finish it and this was on normal mode and if i play on dx11 with everything on it lags real bad!! this game needs a lot of help for it to run properly with it in dx11 but i can run it though.

i just have to have 1 of the dx11 settings off i just leave the tessla turn on and the other off and i can have playable fps. but if a lot happens at once it lags down hard to where it is unplayable so yeah this 1 needs a lot of help for sure. but it sure does look nice though and there night vision looks nice to.
Image
these creature aka librarian are the hardest 1 to kill let me tell ya and you dont want to go against them with a low ammo count like i have so far i have to think of way of trying to kill them now. since i had buy this better armor suite which cost me a lot of the good military 5.56 ammo which is the money you use in the game to buy stuff.
Image Image Image

this is your charger that you use to charge up your light and when you get your night vision goggles
Image
1 of the rifle i picked up which you will need to do in the game is look for loot and filter and better gas mask
Image Image Image Image

i been playing it threw once again just so i can take some screen shots now since the 1st time i didnt. im up to 18 now lol and i got a video of this 1 section but man it can get scary as well but i need to figure how to shrink it down since win7 doesnt have windo movie maker in it like xp and vista had before.. 1 thing i miss in win7...
