Windows 7 Services Configurations

Postby MUff1N » Mon Mar 22, 2010 4:45 am

I looked through all the posts & there wasn't a post on Windows Services tweaks aka Windows 7 Services Configurations.
As everyone already knows, the less resources being used in the background you have
the more responsive your system & the less RAM is being used.
With that said here's the site with all the info...Great site! ;)
http://www.blackviper.com/Windows_7/servicecfg.htm

The site also has convenient Registry entry downloads for "Default" & "Safe" services settings
so all it takes is a couple of clicks & a reboot to put in all of the settings! :P
http://www.blackviper.com/Windows_7/registry.htm
I've also done the services manually & it took me 45 minutes. :|
I use the Safe settings registry file & it works great. Really speeds up your boot times too. :9:

Black Viper also has tons more info about all the Windows operating systems so take a look see! ;)

I thought blackviper had some bad press about a year or so ago and I haven't be near them since, I may be wrong about them.

I've NEVER seen any bad press on Black Viper at all so I don't know where you got that from... :|
Every tweak I've ever used from his site has always improved the performance of Windows for me without
any problems at all...but then again, I actually take the time to READ the instructions! LOL ;)

guess i will check out some of these tips.. i just finished my first w7 install- well upgrade from xp.. my bud picked up some virus or something. it knocked out half his security and i could not run or re install it.. try to surf- it carries you to other pages or seach engines etc.. i think it was 1 of them fake scan programs.. he got pop ups saying his computer is infected- run scan.. if he closed it . it would run anyway etc..

so. i took his system twister apart. cleaned everything real well. installed some new fans and his tx650w psu and mod his intake 120mm filter with pantyhose [black queen as a fact] ha ha. its better than that lil thing that i was using. the lil sponge mess thing was easy to vac out or deform. i forgot to disconnect his storage hdd [d ?]- w7 wanted to install to it [40gig storage drive]. so i booted from disc and had the options to install it where i wanted too. i nuked c drive [ the 320 gig drive ] etc.. his i guess north bridge fan is dying [didnt know that until here]. cold start it starts making noise. when i built the pc. i got him a lil 40mm fan for back up.. he could not find it. got the pooter back to its home- we found the fan. im just going to sit it on top the cooler quick tie it down plug it into the mobo and let it go. to see it now. i think the cooler fan is 60mm- its copper or looks like it. i think it will be ok- with the lil 40mm fan.. i might order a 60 mm to sit on top the cooler. im not sure.. i hope to build new systems- so..

twister...

EVGA 9800gt. ThermalRight SI128.
W/D 400jd//3200AAJS. Dell 17''crt.
RaidMax scorpion +120 intake mod.
Epson stylus cx3110. Fios.

w7 runs good on his system with 3 gigs of memory. soon as i got into w7 i deleted [ windows old.][from upgrade- its the old xp install- you can use stuff in it but not run the os etc.]. i did not need any of it and it was infected so i deleted it as fast as i could. i ran later scans avast found 2 things. i ran all other scans and avast again. its clean and running good. i could not install anything off of the disc with mobo. i read all of windows updates. it installed somethings for system. i cant remember now. i let windows install the sound drivers. all of that works fine. has the control center just like off the disc etc. i did not check for most new driver. i figured it should be already. it works so..

Well, looks like you are doing good with Win 7 so far. I'm surprised it let you do an upgrade from XP. But I guess you wanted to nuke that XP install anyways.

That one spyware program you wrote about has been plaugeing (SP?) a friend of mine for months now. It's all over the internet, how to get rid of it, and it still keeps coming back. It has to be coming from one of the sites your and my friend visits, because you get rid of it and a week later it's back. Sux these guys are total ripoff scum bags. Period.

I turn off the firewall, the router has a built in one that updates every day automatically. It's my D Link Gaming router. I like the way Win 7 will connect to the Internet thru a router automatically, I always had to do it manually with XP.

New Egg has an Acer 21.5 widescreen monitor for $139, free shipping (as of today anyways) Same as this E Machines I got on Black Friday last year. Really nice monitor.

What's an nv 4700 video card? You mean a GTX470? I'm looking at the Gigabyte GTX460 with the dual fan (dual slot as well) video card, for $230. That will be my Holiday present to myself.

BTW, Jeff (blue) says hi to everyone.

This works with w7 if needed. You can use it to clone a old dying hdd to a new drive, or if you just want to upgrade to a larger drive and do not need to reformat and the a likes. Or just back up your main c: etc. I would guess it is versions for all brand hdds. It is free. Was made to help save info during hurricanes or something..

Enjoy..>

Acronis True Image WD Edition Software.. I would guess they have versions for all hdd's. This is free.
