How long would you give yourself

Postby cas » Mon Sep 14, 2009 5:55 am

Say if currently you are a self properitor offering computer facilities management services to home and offices and you has been at it for 7-8 mths, though there's some business but you can't survive with that tiny amount and it has been extremely difficult in securing a perm or temp contract, moreover those businesses is once in a blue moon though i've done my home working like marketing through flyers, email and advertising through web

So if you were me would you pack up and look for a job or continue with the business for the time being? Btw is this a dead end job or business given there's so many competitor with cheap labour?

Well, I did things the other way around from how you are doing it. Before I started my own business, I was already working full time. So I just kept doing "side work" until finally I had enough customers that I could quit my full time job and I opened a shop in a store front location.

Keep the few customers that you have, find something part time or full time and keep trying to find more customers for your own business. It could take a few years, but if you do good work and your reputation spreads around, eventually people will come to you for your service. ;) Chris.

this si something i all ways wanted to do but you hit it on the head cas. there is so many other people doing this it is crazy and even if i could do this like you are doing right now.

but as for you it would depend on if you took a full time job, if you found 1. would you loose the pc jobs you have right now ya know.

but if you wouldnt loose them or if they would work around it in order to keep you around i would say go for it and get a full time job if you can land 1.

since times are tuff ATM and it is not going to get any easier with the pres we got now and what he wants to do. soz but thats how i feel end of story and discussion.

back on topic, so in other words go for it if you wont loose what ya got now but talk with them 1st and let them know whats up and what going on ya know.

I think it depends on many things. Like your financial securities, how much back up real money can you get at as having your own

business you have to be Damn sure your ready for bad times, they come and they go. Also how old a person is. Your own Business

takes a ton of times and effort. So you'll have to be Married to your Work. can you handle all that pressure and there's a lot.

Or would you rather get a decent paying secure job with the State or Government, lets sat, DMV etc. You get a good job like that

and you'll get great benies, vacation time and a 401 k plan or whatever. If ya got the Money right now is a good time to

snag a house, maybe do that to, rent it out, fix it up, sell it for a profit when the times right and continue doing this, and just keep your

job and save as much as you can, invest in good solid investments.

Or Go ahead and kill yourself trying to keep the doors open in a poor retail market economy. What Chris has he worked for, for a LONG time

I'm sure he'd be the first to say it ain't easy. maybe now but the first year of any business 1/2 of all Bushinesses fail .

What Ever you DO, Think it through!! Get others opinions, find a partner always nice to share the pain. :D

In short get lots of Second Opinions, before you do anything, and if your older it will be harder remember that.
