I wonder if it was a pirated iPhone. Cause this reminds me of the exploding batteries in other pirated items.

Hissing noise. LiPo batteries hiss just before they explode. I know this from my RC cars and heli's. If you overcharge them they will explode. If you let them get too low they will explode. The phone should shut down when the battery gets low, but if you hack it to unlock it who knows if it messes up any other programming inside. Also could just be shitty batteries. Chris.

Note that both exploding iPhones belonged to teenagers....is that just odd or what? They are more likely to HACK their device than say a 50yo Businessman from IOWA.

The worse thing I have heard about the iPhone prior to this did deal with the screens though. The touch screen just dies.
