Postby RubberDuck » Mon Aug 10, 2009 1:33 am

I have never used this program before and I was looking at cleaning the registry { getting rid of unused file extensions} and that crap. How safe it the program ?? I was always really really really scared of messing with the registry { hosing windows }.

So what's your guys take :?: :?:

I have used it on both Vista and Win 7 now, and have had zero problems letting it remove registry entries. It does ask you if you want to back up the registry before you remove anything, which is probably a good idea. Chris.

Been using if for a few years. The only time it has any adverse effect with the OS is when there is a virus / spyware infection that needs cleaning first.

Malwarebytes

The makers of CCleaner also have two other really good progs....

Recuva
Defraggler

I use it on every system that I build - personal and client.
At least 4 years now.
I never back up the registry.
Not one single time has CCLEANER every given me or caused a problem.
Knock on wood, just in case!

yeah i only use it now for the quick defrag now. for the full defrag i use JKdefrag it is by far the best defrag i have used yet. and it will fully optimize all HD in your system. and it will tune it up as well. and it is free to boot. it is not like most program it is a DOS box like program it open up to which it will run out of. when you open it up for the 1st time. it will take a few hrs depending on the amount of HD and software you have.

i know since i have 2 raid0 with 500gig each and they are both 1/2 full i had to go to bed and let it run. which sucks cause i dont like letting my main rig run with out me being there. since it is water cooled and all and since i am now in the process of a ERMA of my 285. so yeah i have been busy this wk to say the least.

long story which still end up with me getting a RMA for my 285. i am tired of it. to go on would take a ne thread by it self ok.

just google jkdefrag and you will find it. it work for both 32bit and 64bit since there is 2 version. beside xp and vista/win7

CCleaner is great, for a FREE APP it's excellent IMO.

When you run the registry cleaner, do a back up, or what I do set a Sys Restore point so you can easily

go back, but to be honest it's never screwed up my PC, used it forever. Be aware of Deleting apps with Ccleaner,

as for example you may have two of the same apps, you delete one and they both go, so be careful is all, I'd stick with Add/remove from MS.

Though CCleaner is very fast, and man does it go to town cleaning all the Junk files from your system. I had a friend use it the other day

his PC would barely run, he installed ccleaner and now his system flies! So in my book CCLEANER is Excellent.

On a final note IMO, the some of the very BEST SOFTWARE is absolutely FREE!! They are honest and rely on Donations,

I donate like 5 bucks to them. Worth EVERY penny, if I was well to do I'd donate much more. ;)

Like SpyBot S&D is still one of the Best spybot removal tools bar none, excellent app, no PC should be without it.
