Yes and no. As long as the DVR has the correct outputs, you can hook it up to an LCD (or any other ) monitor directly. But if the DVR doesn't have all the necessary outputs, you will need a converter.

The outputs you will need to use that cable are:
Red, Blue, Green
Luminous
H Sync, V Sync

(as far as I can remember anyways, it's been a while) Chris.
1)Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3, FX4100 Bulldozer, 8Gb G Skill Sniper 1866, EVGA GTX560Ti, 2x 500Gb SATA II, DVDRW, Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit RTM
2)stupid board died already *pfffftttt*
3) AX78, Phenom 9600, 2Gb OZC PC6400, EVGA 9800GTX, CDRW/DVD, CM CP600PCAR 600W, XP Pro Sp2

If you're not living on the edge, you are taking up too much room

Hey chris once again thanks, yup the shop assistant did mention that the dvr has to have the same 5 bnc outputs which consist of the 5 colour, say if the output is more or less would have to get a converter or another cable
