Emblazoned at its booth, it's clear that VIA is focusing on its embedded products and platforms here.

Some of the Northbridge products offered by VIA. Of course, these are not exactly familiar to most PC enthusiasts.

The Southbridge chips here though may ring a bell with some.

Some of the applications for VIA's embedded products include this example where the Embedded-ITX form factor allows the processor and other hardware to be used in kiosks, ATMs and digital signage.

The digital signage applications is expressed here with a VIA Nano processor, S3 graphics and VX800 chipset producing enough power to drive HD video streams to five different displays. Do note that it's not perfect and in this case, two of the displays will have the same output.

An industrial open standard, Pico-ITXe (10 x 7.2cm) is a specification that will allow boards to be stacked easily, with a small footprint as a result.

One such system using the Pico-ITXe form factor and yet capable of playing HD videos. A VIA Eden ULV processor is used with HDMI and Gigabit LAN support.

Yep, that's all VIA is building these days, embedded boards. They don't sell chipsets to other vendors anymore.

Boy, those South Bridge chips are old stuff. At least the had a Nano CPU on display. Should be interesting to see the new dual core CPU later this year. Chris.
