New swine flue virus outbreak in Mexico.........

Postby Mr. Chris » Sat Apr 25, 2009 4:24 pm

this could get really bad, really quickly: http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/200 ... clude=Juno

62 dead, thousands sick. Looks like it's mainly in Mexico City, but it can and will travel north very quickly. I hope they get a handle on it soon, because here where I live, in Northern Mexico 8-) there's a lot of potential exposure.

Time for my gas mask and haz mat suit. Chris.

Here's more: http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/200 ... clude=Juno It's already in California and Texas. :?

Oddly enough, the story I heard about this here at the college was that 12 people had gotten infected with this, and that 8 or all had recovered. I have a feeling that the 64people story is hyped information.

Time: 3:19pm ----Yahoo News has it upto 68 dead now.

81 dead in Mexico now. 100 sick in New York. Cases all over, from New Zealand, France and other countries: http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2009 ... clude=Juno

Most every country is recommending not to travel to Mexico, and to avoid contact with anyone that has recently returned from Mexico. Some countries are going to quarantine people that have returned from Mexico and have a fever. They even installed temperature monitoring equipment at airports to scan those folks returning from Mexico. This is getting really crazy. If the flue doesn't get you, the panic craze might! :? Chris.

I will take my chances with the Flu anyday. Hysterical people put me into an explosive mood.

What is worse is that its a known fact that your mind can control your health. If someone tells you that you have a disease and that x people have died from in in the last few days, what does that do to you? It automatically decreases your expectations of recovery and increases your decent into a deteriorating health state.

Remember the disease from Singapore or a place like that from eating cats?

Was it not just 2 years ago that the Avian Flu was the big scare?

So in two years it will be the Horse Flu?

Cannot go with Cow as that was the Mad-Cow scare a few years back.

Funny you mention that, because with all the reading about this the last few days, and the place I work I deal with a lot of Hispanic customers, as well as the fact I handle a lot of money (which is probably the most dirty commodity a person can handle) I started feeling like I was getting sick. By last night, I was almost convinced I had the flu. Then I had to step back and say, "hey, stupid, you aren't vomiting, you don't have the runs, you don't have a fever, get over yourself" Basically I was just tired, so I went back to sleep. I'm fine, just like you said, your mind can get a hold of the idea and run with it, if you let it.

103 deaths now in Mexico, 6 cases in Canada, the 8 in New York confirmed: http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington ... clude=Juno but no new cases in the U.S. Yesterday, the U.S. declared a "nationwide public health emergency" so they could get the different government agencies going as a response team and release millions of anti virus shots from stockpiles of drugs.

I think I'll take a double shot of Nyquil and take a nap. :P Chris.

Well, the pirates are a little further south, so it would be either surfers or swimmers. :P Chris.
