why don't birthdays show until logged in?

Talk about anything here

why don't birthdays show until logged in?

Postby Mr. Chris » Fri Aug 03, 2012 1:09 pm

In sure it's Ed's fault (Hawk) because I don't mess with stuff that I don't know crap about. I did look thru some settings, but didn't mess with them.

Anyways, yes, I am 55 today, still breathing, and going out to a gun range tomorrow to have some real fun! :mrgreen: :9:

Happy Birthday Chris!!!! :yahoo:

Sure! It's easy to blame me. Why not! :Cheeky:

I'll check my board and see if I can figure out why the Birthday listings don't show until logged in.

I looked through the admin section of my site and couldn't find any specific settings governing that, so I did a little research.
It looks like it might be an edit that needs to be made in the styles/prosilver/template/index_body.html file. See this thread.

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... #p13131976

As you can see from my index_body.html file, I don't have the <!-- IF S_USER_LOGGED_IN -->

Code: Select all
<!-- IF S_DISPLAY_ONLINE_LIST -->
   <!-- IF U_VIEWONLINE --><h3><a href="{U_VIEWONLINE}">{L_WHO_IS_ONLINE}</a></h3><!-- ELSE --><h3>{L_WHO_IS_ONLINE}</h3><!-- ENDIF -->
   <p>{TOTAL_USERS_ONLINE} ({L_ONLINE_EXPLAIN})<br />{RECORD_USERS}<br /> <br />{LOGGED_IN_USER_LIST}
   <!-- IF LEGEND --><br /><em>{L_LEGEND}: {LEGEND}</em><!-- ENDIF --></p>
<!-- ENDIF -->

<!-- IF S_DISPLAY_BIRTHDAY_LIST and BIRTHDAY_LIST -->
   <h3>{L_BIRTHDAYS}</h3>
   <p><!-- IF BIRTHDAY_LIST -->{L_CONGRATULATIONS}: <strong>{BIRTHDAY_LIST}</strong><!-- ELSE -->{L_NO_BIRTHDAYS}<!-- ENDIF --></p>
<!-- ENDIF -->

<!-- IF NEWEST_USER -->
   <h3>{L_STATISTICS}</h3>
   <p>{TOTAL_POSTS} &bull; {TOTAL_TOPICS} &bull; {TOTAL_USERS} &bull; {NEWEST_USER}</p>
<!-- ENDIF -->

I'm guessing yours does.

Well, never mind. I just had a look at your index_body.html file and I didn't see that one line that the link above was talking about.

I don't know why your board is not showing the birthday thing unless you're logged in.

Something has gone bonkers with phpBB, or just this site. My user name and password are no longer "remembered" or is that a Firefox issue? Something, a Windows update or FF update maybe, messed it all up. My log in isn't even saved here any more. I have to manually log in every time. Bonkers.

Check your Firefox options/privacy/ cookie settings and options/security Passwords settings.

Are you having this problem at RWA?

I'm not having that problem here, so I doubt it's the board.

No issues at all with RWA. Firefox remembers my user name and pass word. However, on this board, FF does no longer remember user name or password. Could it be a recent FF update? But that would affect all my internet, and this is the only site I'm having problems with?

Did you check the settings I mentioned?

Like I said, I don't have a problem here. I'm running Firefox 14.0.1

Checked all my FF settings, they are all at default, as I have always left them.
