Joke of the day, using cables ties to secure rails

Postby cas » Sun Dec 18, 2011 6:15 pm

Recently our MRT (mass rapid train) has frequent break down, almost weekly. The worse one which happen on friday in the evening at 6:30 in the evening which affected many commuters as many ppl are dropping off from work at tat hr.

Who noe today which is a weekend, it happen again, thus some commuter have to resort to use fire extinguisher to break one of the glass pane of the door due to ventillation or oxygen. In the end commuter has to walk the track of the tunnel and into the entrance of the station

Next the authorities decided to close part of the affected railway & station at nite & propose to open the next morning at 11am thus to retify the issue, to find out where the fault lies with. After a nite work, they discover some of the rail has been loosen or unsecure thus the frequent breakdown.

Instead of closing the affected railway for maintenance say using welding, nuts or screw to tighten or secure the rail, they opt to use plastic cables ties (those that we find in pc cable management ties) Below are a image of the affected rail with cables ties securing the unsecure rail

I guess either the CEO or the engineer must be a mororn to have come out with such extreme measure
