Any free utility that could trim or split wav

Postby cas » Thu Jul 15, 2010 1:35 am

I'm trying to upload it as background sound with my site flash banner and it doesn't allow me to do so, i suspect it could be due to the file is too large, Fyi the file is approximately 5.33mb

hi cas

i cant think of the name of it now- but was 1 i use to use. you should google wave splitter edit trim- might want to word it each way- and or go to download.com wav is a common and or standard format- you should find something pretty easy- soundblaster etc has it own wave stuff some music players have them too. my jet audio player has its own.. maybe virtual dub can do what you want- but its tons of free programs im sure.. um wmm might be able to do what you want [windows movie maker] most anything that can do video can strip out and or cut edit sound etc.. also id guess wmp can do what you want too..

its been a while since i did anything with just sound- i mostly mess with video these days- but i do have programs back up on disc or external drives- i just dont feel like hunting for them-- if you google it you will find something pretty fast im sure..

as a fact im not exactly sure what you are trying to do- but wave is a huge format- you might want to convert it to mp3 or wma or something- its way more small and lil or no quality loss- if you are trying to do banners for a site etc animated gifs anything like that you want to keep them under 2mbs- or can take forever for the pages to load- folks with slow connections will be forever for sure before his stuff loads- they will not bother.. and you are trying to add sound too- so- you want to use formats that will give ya the most small file size you can..

im sure you know the banner its self will not have sound- or im almost certain just like animated gifs have no sound- which a banner and or ag is pretty much the same thing- if im not mistaken. so that means you will have to have some lil player load with the page and play what you want- or program the code into the page so them trying to view your page- his native player plays the sound- im not sure how that works- ive never made web pages etc..and again- you want the sound file as small as possible.. sound or not- you want the total of everything together under 2mbs..

see ya..

Hey ezeht

Audacity managed to do the trick, is an open source and free utility, simple and work great. Thanks for your help though, btw i still remember you used to guide me on the triming of video as well as capturing games :D
