USA call cheques as check?

Postby cas » Fri Apr 16, 2010 3:36 am

All along we read and call it cheques, could be due to we are educated in the british system. Just this morning when i try to input some stuff on the accounting software i notice there's only option like cash, credit, check but not cheque, then i discover is the same, just that british and USA name it differently :(

Yep, we call them checks. After all, we have to name everything different from the British, right? ;)

As far as I know the USA changed the spelling after the war of independence from England so they (USA) could distance themselves from mother England, I think the weights and measures are different as well.

I think it was George Washington and his government that bought about the changes.

We were taught English spelling but people sometimes use USA spelling here.

Yep, seems like the rest of the world uses the Metric system, here we have pounds, inches, gallons, etc.
