Chris,

A Quarter of an INCH thick, that's way Thick, don't think I've EVER seen one like that.

Sweet though!! It's probably like 1/8"in thick or 3/16ths, NO?? Either way it's freaking HUGE

I think Chris' been into some bad juju, I've never seen a badge that is a quarter of an inch thick.....quarter of a cm, perhaps....but not 'inch'. ;) My Corsair badge is about a milimeter or two thick, and that's as thick as it gets....at least from my experience. Chris, can you post a pic or two of the badge? I'm kinda curious myself....never seen such a thick one before.

(Wait a sec, that definitely didn't come out right! )

OK, maybe a 16th of an inch. Us older guys tend to exaggerate lenght and width a bit. :o I took two pics, now I can't find the darn cable that plugs the camera into the PC? I think I need to organize my office. Plus upload to Photo Bucket. As the Governator says, "I'll be back" (OK, former Governator)

My bro's archaic P4 system (his wife's actually) died on him, he asked me for help. Fortunately for him, I have the P5E (one bad dimm slot) and the Q6600 handy, I asked if he wanted to spruce the system up with a decent vid card (for light gaming) and PSU, he said I might as well since his wife had wanted to try out gaming. So, off to the mall to grab these -
Image
That item on the top right is the PCIe x1 to 2x USB3.0 card that I'd told you about Blue, the pic on the box showed two models, mine is the one below with 2x USB3.0 ports. The PSU is one by Xigmatek, yes, they are more known for their coolers, but I figured WTH and got it. Been told it's a pretty decent quality PSU, feels like one too....2x 22A on the +12v rails is alright by my book.
A look at the GTS450 2GB that I'd gotten for him, it was surprisingly cheap.....
Image
When I told the saleman at another shop the price, he couldn't help but said it was CHEAP! Guess the shop I'd gone to was clearing leftover stock/inventory. Anyway, the Q6600 + 4GB KVR DDR2 800 + GTS450 2GB is light years ahead of his old P4 3.06ghz + 2GB DDR1 400 + IGP, doncha agree?

I like it all GD!!

You can't go wrong with any of those purchases, I love Xigmatek, and they make Excellent Coolers, yes, but they make great stuff in general

IMO, there pricing is down to earth too, with them I think you get more than you paid for, that PSU is or might be made bu Corsair, sure looks like one.

If it's nice and Heavy (weighs a lot) chances are it's a good PSU, you know the basic rule for buying a PSU, (Light ones are cheap and have nothing in them too!!)

That 450 nv card looks hella Nice too, and sounds great, for mild gaming as you said, sure is a looker though, Oh and thanks for posting the pics of the USB3

adapter cards good stuff, your Cousin will be VERY happy with the upgrades!!! Traded out my Q9800 Intel Chip, miss that bugger too, but love my i7, so I'm very happy.

Next up after some other things I have in the fire will be a 2 gig 670ti when they start making them, and they will. All 600 series cards are flying off the

shelves at the moment though, so it's a waiting game, then a new mobo, i7 and so on, LOL!! :yahoo: :banghead: It never stops, make it stop, OMG!!

Make it Stop!! (who am I kidding? It'll never stop)

Image pretty!!

Ummm, Blue D00d, my EVGA GTX670 is a 2Gb card. New Egg's got them.

I had my rig #2 running last night for about 6 hours, smelled something burning. Damn cheap ass Zumax power supply. But it wasn't cheap to buy! So now I need a new PSU, ordered a 650 watt Cooler Master from New Egg, has to come from New Jersey so three days. The local PC shop only had really cheap, small wattage supplys, I need one with a little bigger balls for that FX4100 and that GTX560Ti. 400 watts I don't think that will cut it, plus it's a real POS. Weighs about one pound.

I think Blue's made a typo, I think he meant 4GB, but I believe the 4GB versions are out.....Palit JetStream GTX670 comes in 2GB and 4GB flavors, and I'm sure there're other brands that make 4GB version of the GTX670.

One thing about a good PSU is the weight. The PSU that came with the cheapo case I'd gotten for my bro is light, damn light actually that I hardly felt the weight when I was examining it). Incredibly, they'd stated 450W power but also state that Real/True Power amounted to 230W only....refreshing to see real power on the label as well, instead of the usual BS rating. The Xigmatek 600W PSU definitely felt heavier, a solid feel to it. I'm confident it'd power my bro's rig w/o issue. I have to hit the mall again as the el cheapo HSF I had gotten for my bro sucked big time! With my TRUE 120 and a single fan, I see 20C (exposed, not install in case yet) while with the cheap HSF, I see 55C....it was badly crafted and did not seat well in the CPU. I'll have to get a CM/Xigmatek cooler for the Q6600.

I always figure a good powerful card (gfx) takes at least 200 watts to power

correctly, anyway ya look at it!! Slice it Dice it, it needs 200 watts. Then add on your

CPU and Hard drives and what not, ram. these day's a tx750 Corsair is a great option

I'm not saying that but judging by JonnyGURU Power Supply Reviews etc.

LINK:: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?na ... ry&reid=73

If your in the market for a PSU , you owe it to yourself to Vist JonnyGURU before you

make up your mind!! Thremaltake has some good ones too, well he covers them all

and Xigmatek, you name it he covers the good and bad and so on.

JONNYGURU

Here's what mine looks like inside and the Score JonnyGURU gave it::
