New Forceware drivers 197.13 WHQL-candidate released.

Postby MUff1N » Mon Mar 22, 2010 1:36 pm

For those interested in the latest drivers for the most performance (Like I am) Nvidia has release a new driver v197.13 WHQL-candidate!
I've already tested it & ran a Vantage bench which has given me the highest score ever so far...
This also fixes the fan issue that was in drivers 196.75 so you don't have to worry about that anymore with these drivers! ;)

This is a WHQL-candidate driver for GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, 200, and 300-series desktop GPUs and ION desktop GPUs.

This driver resolves fan speed issues reported with version 196.75 drivers.
NVIDIA asks that you remove 196.75 drivers and update to either 196.21 WHQL drivers or to this 197.13 WHQL-candidate driver.

New in Version 197.13

* Adds support for Next Generation ION.
* Adds support for GeForce GT 320, GeForce GT 330, and GeForce GT 340.
* Upgrades PhysX System Software to version 9.10.0129.
* Upgrades HD Audio driver to version 1.0.9.1 (for supported GPUs).
* Increases performance in several PC games from v196.21 WHQL. The following are examples of measured improvements. Results will vary depending on your GPU and system configuration:

o Up to 13% performance increase in Crysis: Warhead with a single GPU
o Up to 30% performance increase in Crysis: Warhead with SLI technology
o Up to 13% performance increase in H.A.W.X with single GPU
o Up to 15% performance increase in H.A.W.X with SLI technology
o Up to 30% performance increase in Left 4 Dead with single GPU
o Up to 28% performance increase in Left 4 Dead with SLI technology

* Adds SLI and multi-GPU support for top new gaming titles including Assassin Creed II, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Command and Conquer 4: Tiberium Twilight, Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City, Mass Effect 2, Napoleon: Total War, and Zombie Driver.
* Enhanced SLI support for Metro 2033, Supreme Commander 2, Unigine, and World of Warcraft.
* Adds Ambient Occlusion support for Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, Need for Speed: Shift, Resident Evil 5, RUSE, and Street Fighter IV.
* Adds override anti-aliasing support for Mass Effect 2.

Re: DON'T USE THE 196.75 DRIVERS!

Postby ezeht » Sun Apr 25, 2010 12:47 pm

i gave 196.21 a try back a few weeks ago- trying to see if i could get bioshock2 to act better- it did not- but the drivers did seem to give me more fps in my games and bio2 too- but it messed up the fps display in both my zdsoft recorders- i could see the display box but was garbled where i could not read the fps or see turn from green to red when recording. so i fell back to 182.06 ive been using..

when or if evga precision comes out with a new precision for 197.13 i might give 197.13 drivers a try. the last precision 1.9 i think it is- had to be tweaked to work around some fault in the 196 drivers.. i will wait a month or so.. it might not need a new version- i will wait and see..

but. ive never had the display prob issues before i tried the last drivers.. i need my recorder programs to work as they should.. better drivers and more fps are welcome- if it all works right - that is.. some drivers give better color or saturations too. but some drivers over all are not as good with some- and seems sometimes - you have trade offs- or what might be good drivers for 1 game- might not be for other games- its kind of crazy maybe-- be nice to get better drivers that make everything better- seems its asking to much tho..

see ya..

I'll still wait for the WHQL'd drivers. I'm really not into beta testing video card drivers anymore. I used to be, but then rolling back when I found the messed more stuff up than they fixed, and all the trouble to uninstall then reinstall, forget it.

um. i dont think they are beta anymore. maybe b or c version what ever- but they are also posted at the evga site. evga is always late to post drivers compared to nv site. but they are not posted as beta driver and they are whql drivers.

actually- evga just updated its drivers on its site to these 197.13. but if you go to nvidia site- they have new drivers just out 197.45 so. i like to wait until evga has them on their site and has a precision that works with it..

um these are for my 8 series card. maybe its different for 200 or 400 cards- but all are whql drivers..>

here is 197.13 whql drivers for w7 from nv site.. id guess same at evga..>

Hi Ya'll :D

I run the 1.9713 Drivers, funny I was just thinking about checking out new NV drivers, but that leg works been done.

AFAIK, my Drivers are fine, in fact they seem to be Excellent for me anyhow. I expected some bumps in the Driver Roads with

tghe new FERMI chips, they be having some teething to do yet, but NV, I have faith will hit the G-Spot.

I run games from 95 to 2010 with these drivers. Not a Hitch whatsoever. Oh and I can't roll back my drivers as I only use but one set.

Driver Sweeper takes out all them old drivers. I hate having more that one set, the ones I'm using, though I do tell, in a case such as this it would be

Handy to Just click the ROLL BACK box  I'm leaving my RIG alone it runs like a freaking TOP Image

Long story Short my NV Drivers are right as Rain. :9:

Blue

As of the moment I'm staying with what works, soon all the kinks will be worked out then I'll upgrade, but then again I play a ton of GOG games, and Heck my drivers work great with all them old ASS games!!

mine runs good too.. its hit or miss if your system likes new drivers or not.. i might try new 1s soon.. i just hate deleting and re installing if they dont work good. i defrag and all that stuff.. but more fps is a good thing- if it all works right that is..

my old pc and xp kicks butt.. im happy with it.. ha ha makes my wins even more sweet to beat folks with modern computers.. maybe they should buy some skills- ha ha na that would more than likely be a cheat lol..

see ya.. :D
