well that driver may be to old for my gfx card. but i did get another blue screen anagin stop :00124 which is the 2nd time i have gotten that 1. with this new driver. the 185.85 driver that just came out today. i got that same blue screen when i ran clear sky bench mark and then when i went to play FO3, just as i click on it to start it blue screen. so now i am back to my XG driver that didnt do that before. so maybe it was a gfx driver problem over all.

Notice u're OC, try clearing cmos and let it run at default setting and see whether the blue screen and error still occur

well my oc has been stable for very long time now. like over a yr if not more so maybe even 2 now. so i know it is not that it is more like a HD going bad i beet since i have had the same drive go bad so far twice. in 2 yrs time. once every yr it seems. and has i stated before it is a yr later since last time lol. just my luck as normal  but i am back to the XG 185.81 which i played L4D with no problem and played threw a whole sp with np.

and RT run with np as well to so i was wondering if that had something to do with it as well. since the fan settings were not working the way i wanted them to. and it seem to blue screen soon after i got done messing with the fan setting as well even though i went to play FO3 it seem it was the game that did it. maybe it was RT and that it was not really seeing the driver right over all even with it forced to see it in a way.

I knew it would be tied to the drivers for the GPU.

That is the only thing I don't like about nvidia is they drivers support. They are always changing they drivers like 2 or 3 times a month. Ati once a month no matter what is going on.

yeah the guy that does rivatuner and precision tune hate nvidia in away to. since they tend to change something major after a while. and when they change a into a new driver series like from 184 to 185 or like now in mid stream. they really mess something up since RT can no longer see the gfx driver correctly now. and i had a problem with the fan speed as well. which i am not sure why to.

but also i found out from another web site that i guess over at steam forums i am not alone. there is other that are having some major troubles with L4D as well and with the game CTD and blue screen. but for some they say the 185.85 driver fix it for them. but for me the driver cause me so much more trouble then it was worth. but they said to turn off multi core so i tried that, and my CTD kind of stop and i got to play threw a hole sp with 1 happening.

maybe that what help me out but. i got some very bad slow down out of doing that though. when im running along at well over 100fps or 200fps then BAM 20 fps!! or so... then it slowly creeps back up then it is ok . but it will do it again and it doesnt matter if there is a lot going on or not. it is random. but the topic problem i had seem to have been just that a 1 time deal but the new driver WOW gave me 2 blue screen of the old famous stop:124 error which i use to get a very long time ago.

i got like 2 of them with in 20 - 30 minuts of each other but i think that may have been because RT was not working right since i was messing with alot, but that could have been just a quintessence to. but then again i do have all those other kernel error in my error page that i have no idea how to fix or get rid of either.

I would create a secondary Installation of the OS.
Install the Latest Intel drivers for the Chipset - at least I have heard few complaint of their drivers.
I would install a much older set of GPU drivers.
I would remove any OC as that can cause issue that the OS could recover from without actually creating an issue.
I would install my Game.
I would play the hell out of it.
I would check the LOG.

One way or the other, I would start to narrow the gap between what was happening and what I knew was the cause.

Scavy, did you see the workaround for Rivatuner I posted in the 185.85 driver thread? It comes straight from the creator of Precision/Rivatuner himself. So it should work.

yeah i know that is my thread i started in EVGA forum in the EVGA/PT lol but i think it may had something to do with the 2 blue screen i had in a row though.

No Scavy, I saw that fix over on Guru3D, which is Alexey's home the maker of Rivatuner. Yeah, I've seen his posts on EVGA forum though as well.

Here's a quick suggestion and test. I was getting a BSOD occasionally with the 185 and older 182 drivers as well while playing FO3. I thought it was my OC or the game itself causing the problem even though my temps were well within the normal range . Anyway dropped my OC and still had the same issues from time to time, although less frequently. Then for the helluvit I raised the fan speed manually to 75% and the problems disappeared altogether. Zero crashing now during gameplay. So it's possible that other components of the video card other than the GPU itself were overheating and becoming unstable such as the memory or shaders. Just guessing, but makes sense given the problem and solution, for me anyway. So even if you have the fan-speed ramping up based on temp, I'd give manual at 75% a try, at least for testing purposes.

I seriously doubt this will "fix" what's going on though, but I thought I would throw it out there anyway.
