This is a really dumb question............

Postby Mr. Chris » Sat May 30, 2009 5:04 pm

........ but I have no idea about how to fix this problem that an aquaintance has with his PC. It's a pre-built HP box with Vista Home Basic, I presume he's got SP1 (tho he is using dial up for Internet so he may not even have SP1) I have not seen the PC nor will I venture over to try and fix it.

Basically, he's one of those that loves to copy and paste. Sentences, paragraphs, pages, on and on. So finally a week ago, Vista started telling him that he couldn't do that anymore, that he has run out of room. In my entire life of using a PC I have never heard of or encountered this, so I have no idea what or where to delete/ empty or how he could have gotten into this mess.

He seems to think it's Clipboard, but AFAIK, there is no Clipboard in Vista (at least mine doesn't have it) Where in the fark is all this stuff going? Temp files? Documents? Notepad? I have no idea.

Appreciate any help as always. TIA, Chris.

I always used disc cleanup by clicking computer then right click properties and then ran the disc cleanup programme, once that is finished I would defrag and maybe run chkdsk /f.
