Most install errors have something to do with memory. Your using a Thumb drive, what happened to the CDROM?

At what point are you getting the error?

Format the Thumb drive using a different utility?

UMPC aka mini note book doesn't comes with CD Rom, oso mine is running a SSD with a capacity of 8G. Got the error when halfway through xp setup whereby it mention is going to load window which about to see the drive which we can choose to format (there's where the error and blue screen appear)

Wait, you are trying to install XP on a PC with an 8Gb drive? You better try and use nLite and strip that XP down to the bare minimum. There is a reason they loaded that PC with Linux, you know. ;)

How much RAM in that little box? Chris.
1)Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3, Phenom II 970, 8Gb G Skill Sniper 1866, EVGA GTX470SC, 2x 500Gb SATA II RAID 0, Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit RTM
2) AX78, Phenom 9500, 2Gb OCZ PC6400, EVGA 9800GTX+, CDRW, XP Pro SP2
3) AX78, Phenom 9600, 2Gb OZC PC6400, EVGA 9800GTX, CDRW/DVD, CM CP600PCAR 600W, XP Pro Sp2

If you're not living on the edge, you are taking up too much room

I suspect it could be due to the above but then xp is only a few hundred mb, so a 8G drive should be more than enough. Infact i did use Nlite as well as use usb multi boot but still crashes upon loading, hmm maybe some of the step i've have done it wrongly. Hopefully is not the SSD or ram that is going haywire

Ram wise is 1G....

The link on the instruction is clear and precise. On of the neatest things I own is a pocket notebook case.

Makes me wonder if the 8GB SSd would fit in it, cause it turns those drives into USB externals.

Then there are these converter connectors. Turns a 2.5 drive into a 3.5....you might grab one of these for when things get rough with laptop types.

Glad you got it working tho. How well does it perform?
