Alpha Prime

Postby Mr. Chris » Mon Jul 06, 2009 5:11 am

Well I suppose this needs it's own Topic, since the game is really good and deserves one, unlike crap games like Damnation!

Once I loaded it up I remembered it right away. Alpha Prime. I must have played it back in the Abit forum days, but it's still a great one to replay. What a fun game! And for $3? Sweet! :9:

I like the one guy, Portugese or something like that, who you meet on the planet. Great sense of humor the developers wrote into the game. Gawd, how I love QUICK SAVE!!!!!!! You need it. The Bots can be relentless.

Crank the graphics all the way up and it still runs like a top. The Physics engine works really well, too. Pick up all kinds of objects, throw them, push objects out of your way. Really fun. I'll have to remember to run FRAPS and get some screen shots. Was just checking it out earlier, it's one of those you start playing and all of a sudden it's 2 hours later , because the gameplay isn't so difficult that you say "Frak This!"     5 Big Greenie smiles! Chris.

yep it is a real good game that can be played on any level. and yeah it has a good game engine to and it plays right out of the box sort of speak. wait till you get the dune buggy it is a blast and a pain in the arse to drive at the same time.

once you get it you will know what that means. glad you like it since Blue got me to get it to back then but it was not that dirt cheap though. but still a good game to play.

uhm this is very strange it is 1 game i have only a few screen shots of and i have no save of pic anywhere i could find either :?

It must have only been the demo that I played before, because now I'm further along and I don't recognize it.

I'm one of those wimps that plays a game thru the first time on Panzy then goes thru on Insane  But even on the easy setting, this game is a beaytch! You really need "bullet time" in a couple sections. And the "hacking tool" (tab key) is really great for seeing ahead (you can hack into cameras) or triggering explosions. And you need to use it in several places just to continue.

I'm having a hell of a time on the tram which is still early in the game so I wonder what's next? :o

And the F10 key in FRAPS must conflict with some function of the game, I think it's pause, or FRAPS doesn't work with this game. I can't see what F10 is used for in the controls menu so I have no idea. Chris.

The 2 biggest downsides with this game is the sounds and the amount of ammo available. The weapons sound piss weak no matter what you use, and you pick up, what, 3 rounds from enemy weapons lying around? Performance is pretty nice though. Does anyone think that the mouse sensitivity is a bit odd? I think the game uses mouse acceleration, which is great for when you're NOT playing games, but kind of makes playing an FPS hard.

The mouse is a little fast but you can adjust it in the Controls section. Weapons sound is a little weak but it's O.k. All sounds are better if you enable EAX and set the sounds to High in the Audio controls. And turn on the 3D whatever-it-is-called.

FRAPS isn't working right with this game, which is maybe why Scavy doesn't have too many screenies.

I made it past the Tram part. There's a few puzzles in there like track direction and moving some boxes. Use the hacking tool and stay near the oxygen. Now I have to cover the guy I was supposed to find but the bad guys are relentless! Need more grenades! And more health!

As far as ammo goes, you only get a few rounds for the big guns, but I use the gattling gun the most and you pick up 30 rounds from dropped guns or ammo stashes. Be sure and walk up to all the smaller crates and lift the lids with your "F" key because there are goodies inside a lot of them. And open all the cabinets and lockers. You gotta explore once you are safe from getting shot.

For $2.49, it's one hell of a fun game! Chris.

I started a thread at uabit about this game, Noby buy Sccay gave it much thought. To busy studying rocks that gdaf Stalker

Thread. :D :9:

When I think of Alpha Prime I think of the bad a%% firefights!! The ai is Tight, The GFX rock IMHO.

The Puzzles using remote bots to solve are really sweet, and lastly that Damn Space Buggy!! W00t w00t, it's a Blast to drive and simple

for us ETQW challenged gamers, LOL!! Expect to see some spelling errors as I'll be on WIN7 RC for quit awhile so please...do bare with me.

It you like an Good, runs solid as a Rock FPS OLD school (meaning it has QUICK F35king SAVE!!) you'd have to be Nutz not to get this!!

I was gonna get it for some folks, but sometimes I feel like folks just judge a Game by the Hype and Price and if it's brand spanking new.

I buy them Alpha Prime, first thing any person thinks is, Tight A$$. So I didn't Stubbs is another Killer simple game, I mean simple, no quick

save, but hell it hard to die when your already among the DEAD!!

:tease: I LOVE STUBBS!!

Image

Stubbs is out there alright, just keep a close watch on your BRAINS

Blue :P

Ok it was early, I didn't enough sleep I was grumpy, kinda. so I edited my post and got FF working fine in WI7 RC..

Thanks to my bud, Chris, Thanks!!

yep i think i had troubles with fraps and AP but i dont know if i ever figure out what was the cause. or if i did take any i have no way of getting to the drive that would have them since it is dead. but yeah Blue i was the only 1 that did get it and played it threw.

and i think i have finish it like 2 or 3 times so far. it may not have the best weapons but it is fun to play since you can pick stuff up. hell you can shot some hoops if you wanted to lol.. but yeah the gattling gun and the pistol is the best 1 to use threw the hole game anyways.

Guys, use the Hammer and see how fast you can swing it. They haven't limited the speed, so the faster you click, the faster he swings. The guy is on steroids!

Also finally figured out when you pick up an item or throw a grenade, the longer you hold the left mouse button, the farther you throw!

Now I'm redownloading it on this Win 7 rig so I can keep on truckin! Chris.

i guess Blue we need to give them a refresher course on this 1 uh? rofl!!

but yeah if you hold what ever item to throw be it a ball or nade the longer you hold down the button. the father it will go via the graph which will give you an idea of how much power it has that is to that item to throw it. and yeah the hammer you carry with you has no need for reload and keep on going.

also yes fraps and this game do not like each other at all still. it will lock up when ever you take a picture, like a few seconds before you can do anything again. thats is why i have no massive amounts of screens shots for it.

but it still does work even though you think it may cause massive problems to your system yet.
