well since i now have the game. i figure i would post some pic and what i thought of it. and since i did not see a topic on it. figured what the heck.
well i think this is a good game so far. but i have only played against the pc yet. since i am trying to figure out the controls and what not. still havent figure on how to call for a medic or supplys yet. guess i need to check my control settings and see were it is, or check the fold out of what the default controls are at. and as far as my clan goes, i think im the only 1 with it. so i guess ill be a loner playing it.

so far it plays great in vista and on max settings. i still like the gfx back when i played the demo which at that time i thought it was a good game yet.


not sure but i think since i am not really playing against real people my rank will not matter or go up from the start, or does it?


so what do you ET QW expert think of my 1st time play threw? i know i am a major noob but i try my best, and yes i played as Strogg.

Well well. A n00b Strogg. LOL. Now I wish I had saved that Thread about ET:QW from the Abit Forums, but when the Forums went down, I was the only one out of about 10 of us that still played. The rest either couldn't get into it or like Wolf got tired of it. It's not an easy game. Some say it's too complicated but for me it's easy. Then again, I've got almost 1200 hours playing time.

Did you play the demo online? It was only the Valley map, but it's a good intro into what the game is all about. It's all objective based, sometimes you defend, other times you hack stuff or blow stuff up or otherwise complete the objective. There are several objectives to each map, 3 maps in each Campaign, and 4 different campaigns. It should take about 4 hours to play thru all 12 maps. Play against the PC for a while until you get a feel for the layout of the maps and what objectives you need to complete for each different map. Give your team 8 players and the GDF only 7, so it's easier for you to start out with.

Controls? From the Main Menu, choose Options, Controls tab. There's all the keys and commands. A couple simple ones:
mouse wheel = weapons select, left click to choose
mouse wheel press = voice chat menu, highlite the word and left click the game will say the word (need, enemy,cheers,taunts, self open sub menu's)
v = short voice command list, like calling for a medic
t = lets you type words that everyone can read
y = team speak, only your team can read
l = respawn menu, choose your spawn point, weapons loadout and what class you wish to be. there are 5 classes, the one most important to the current objective has a star.

in vehicles, some you can gun while you drive, others you have to either have a second person as gunner, or you change seats with the "f" key. some vehicles have 2 weapons so 2 gunners or change seat/ weapon with "f" key. first person view driving is default, press "home" for 3rd person driving view.

This will of course take some getting used to but really it's not that hard. each class has it's specialty and weapons and abilities. There's a lot of hints all the time in game (tool tips I think they call them) and some of us will help you. Some will just kill your ass.

There are 2 main types of servers: ranked and unranked. on a ranked server, your rank will increase a lot slower that on an unranked (or when you are just playing on the PC) main difference being that the ranked server saves your XP when you exit the game, unranked ones you start from zero each time you restart the game, like on the PC.

Have you played online at all yet, did the game update, what's your player name (I'll send you an invite to be my friend then you can see when I'm playing online) I would play several unranked servers for a while to see if you like it. Me, I try other MP games and I always seem to let them go and come back to this one. There are few cheaters, if any at all.

That's probably more than enough for now. Maybe I'll see you online soon. Oh, Strogg are definately the dominant team in almost every map. If you look up my stats http://stats.enemyterritory.com/profile/60556 you see the win/ loss ratio, and keep in mind I almost always play GDF. But with the Clan, we always try and balance maps to be as fair as we can so I do play Strogg. It also helps to play both teams so you get an idea of the stratagies and weapons and what each class can do.

sweet and thanks chris and for the tip. and yeah i figures out were you can check your rank in game now lol. but yes i played the demo online and i like it. and i am not sure by what you mean it is complicated? since i do not see it that way my self. its just like BF2 or Bf2142 to me. i will try and find your server and add it to my favorites. since i hate cheaters with a passion!!

but all so i do know if you play with good player that do have real talent you will get better at it.i use the same name as i do here SCAVENGER1 which is cool since in most cases i can't get to use it, i have to use some thing close to it. and thanks for the tip on the V,T,Y,L keys . since i had no idea what was what. i guess maybe if i read the manual for it i might have found it out so what time of the day/night are you on and playing? all so do you use teamspeak or ventrilo for comms? i do have both and i do have my own personal ventrilo server i can host as well. and since i run the back up teamspeak server for my clan i can run it if you prefer it.

For ingame voice chat, the game has VOIP built in. But a lot of my clan also have Vent. http://thexclamation.clanservers.com/ph ... ?f=2&t=115 has all the info for our Vent addy. I haven't set mine up yet tho.

Keep in mind, bro, on a ranked server, your XP and rank increase on hell of a lot slower that on an unranked server or when you play against the PC.

well i did send you a request for friend in game and i have your clan server in my favorites now. and yes i love 2nd shift as well. when i did work that was i did to. when i got home i was up till 4 or 5 or 6 and some time 7AM playing. and then when i woke up i started it all over again and played till i had to get ready for work and cook muh food to eat and take to work for lunch, lol. all right ill egt there info for vent. but i did not know they had in game voip? so it is a lot like bf then. since they to have that as well.

i all ways thought of it a s a space age bf.. well it is now after 4AM and i think ill go to bed now. maybe later we can try. do you have xfire? if so scavenger67 is it...

yeah my stats lol!! but i did notice from a few players that they could survive grenades with ease and still kill me with out looking at me either. after that happen so many times i left. or the 1 that kill you while your surrounded by rocks or walls and there is no one there

maybe i am to noobish right to figure it out yet on how they do it. or the 1 shot kills they get while both are jumping around!! or it take more then a clip to gimp them and i die from 1 fkin hit!! that is why i started to say bs threw the last part of the round.

You have to remember, that server is the #2 in the world as far as being popular. And a few of those guys, like DakeD, have about 1,000 more hours than I do. So does Jamd. I don't remember if Frizlefry was still there, but he is a regular, and he is the #3 player in the world! Some heavy brass was there last night. Daytime is a different crowd, a lot more newcomers. Late nights is all out carnage, and Strogg always have the advantage, the Hyperblaster is an awesome weapon.

I still get owned a lot when I play so don't feel bad. I can tell you personally that there were no cheats going on last night.

"Bunny Hopping" as it's called, everyone does it so you avoid head shots (or try to! ) and yes, a GDF sniper can take you out with one shot. Really any weapon only takes on or two shots to the head. If you shoot the body, it can take a full clip if they have been playing for 2 or 3 maps and have made enough XP to get body armor/ armored vest. And GDF medics/ Strogg tecnicians can throw health packs to their team mates to keep them alive. In fact, as you play the maps, you get upgrades depending on the class you are playing. For example, if I'm a GDF Engineer, my first upgrade is Vehicle Drops (I can use the third mouse button to have a Husky dropped for me to drive) then it's an armored vest, then extra 'nades, then self-arming mines (I never have gone beyond that upgrade, I'm not that good ) I usually will get around 300 XP for a 3 map campaign. There are guys that do that on just one map! 900XP for a campaign! Other upgrades can be reduced weapons spread which can make the shotgun twice as nasty as it already is.

You can get far enough away from a 'nade very quick and not get killed. And if the other team has radar, they can see all those red arrows and they know where you are on the HUD radar screen and they can bounce a 'nade or rocket or shell into where you are. Keep your eye on that radar screen. If you team hasn't deployed a radar, tell them to! There is a lot to learn, like what is needed on each map. Don't be afraid to ask what your team needs done. They will tell you. You notice when I introduced you a lot of them spoke up and said hi. That's how most players in this game are. They are only nasty to the players that act like jerks.

To set up VOIP, all you need is a mic (I use a headset without the headphones plugged in, I like my Creative 5.1's) that is set up in your PC's sound manager, which you prolly have if you have Vent. Then start the game and go to Options. I forget which tab it is, I think Advanced? I''l post back later if you can't find it. You will have to pick a key to bind team chat to because it's not set by default. Test record your voice to see how loud it is and if your mic is o.k.

ok and thanks. and yes i remember hearing my name called. i was not able to respond i think. since i had no clue what to push to use the voip in game, is.im still trying to get use to the switching weapons and such. so far all i play is engineer for either side. i try to keep my gun working and anyone near me fix. all so i got ran over a few times .and as for me getting killed while between some rocks, i think it was. i was shot and not blown up. and all so the nad i threw out it blow up under the dude feet it lifted him off the ground but he carried on. from the rock to the nad is were i was getting mad, i guess. since i have seen this stuff before and i do what the only thing you can do, thats leave which i did.

i will try to play it some more and just play against the pc so i can get use to it. before i head out into the world. but i am one who prefers coop over advy any time of the day. that is were my strength lies. i play it alot on the very few online games that have it.

all so you killed me while you was in the tank.. lol but yeah combat arms have a lot of youngin playing it. lol i have been called a haxor !! now that was funny. i mean hell my 3 day of playing and still trying to learn it and i get called a haxor!!?? i did find one that was able to jump to the top of some trees. the maps thats in the jungle with a plane crash in it? those tall azz tree he was able to jump up to them and then back down plus he was so dame fast he was a blurr!! 1amaboy i think was the name or something close to it.
