Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason

This looks like another good one right around the corner. It's a new FPS Horror themed shooter which also makes heavy use of Nvidia's Physx Engine as Mirror's Edge does. The water effects look great and another one to add to my list of wants. A playable tech demo should be available very soon as well and several sites have articles up at the moment. Lots of good info up on this game so I gave it it's own thread rather than throw it into the new games one. Wasn't sure what to do with it.

Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/cryos ... index.html

t's 1968 and the North Wind is trapped in the ice near the Soviet arctic station Pole 21. Meteorologist Alexander Nesterov is stranded on the ship--how he got there, we have no idea. Along with his standard talent as a meteorologist for predicting the weather in the Arctic (100 percent chance of cold), Nesterov is also able to sense the memories of the dead. And of the dead, there are plenty--12 crew members have died on board the North Wind, and Nesterov is in a unique position to enter their memories to set things right.

Yeah HJ~

This game is on my Radar!! I was going to post about it as well.

Wonder what it will use for Copy Write Protection? It's a Russian game and they tend to lean

towards Starforce, these guys did , You are Empty as well, same Publisher 1c.

GameSpot:: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/youar ... index.html

Though GS gave You are Empty a Horrible review, it was actually a Pretty good game, I had a You are Empty

thread at uabit as well. Have the Game, played it etc.

Cryostasis looks SWEET though!!

Yep I was reading about the tech demo and I'm probably going to check it out today?

This is the playable demo for Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason.
The Demo requires Microsoft Vista. :!:

Game Spot:: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/cryos ... id=6202565

From what I read it's as the name implies a tech demo, the game itself plays like a Motion Picture.

It uses DX10 and is IMO, going to be a AWESOME DX10 game. We'll see, the GFX are stunning. Of course many

are upset that it only runs on Vista, but I'll bet that will change when the final release comes. ;)

So I'm going to install it and be back with a report, the game sounds freaking Cool as F#%K!! :yahoo:

Blue :band:

Cryostasis uses DX10 and goes Balls out with it, also uses the Physx engine. :o Is said to run butter smooth on Vista as well.

If this game does well, it's going to put 1c on the MAP in a Big way!! I'm hoping it does well, myself, I like 1c.

Ok Downloaded installed ran the Tech Demo!! :yahoo:

WOW!! Gorgeous looking Game, have no idea how the actual game will run

but the tech Demo @ 1600X1200 on High Settings without an OC on my GFX card

I averaged 78 fps. When you go to run the Demo, use Hardware Physx, not Software.

Also if you run the demo with the Sound on and EAX enabled it will slow it down, so I suggest

running it without sound, then try it with sound. This is obviously a Demo, to show off the

DX10 Special FX. The Water is the Demo, is Amazing!! Lighting all of it, is Stunning!! :o

The Demo will ask if you want to install the newest NV Physx Drivers 8.11.18, I did, I may

have to un-install them, as it may not be ready or work correctly with my other games, I'll report

on that as well. Might work better? This DEMO, is a Freaking TRIP!! I have High Hopes for...

Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason

The demo is dark, I took a few shots, of it, but really you just have to see it, to get the full effect.

Awesome!! ;)

In Demo::

My Old Phyx Driver was 8.10.13 Btw. Anyhow, this is worth the download IMO, as it show cases

an amazing new DX10 Game Engine!! :clapping:

Yup I ran it as well and the PhysX are impressive indeed. At times I wanted to go grab an umbrella to keep the water off me. :P Quick question Blue, I thought this was suppose to be a "playable" demo? It has all the weapons key controls but it just appeared to be a looped demo. Or did I miss something? Hopefully I didn't because I already deleted it and removed the setup file.

HJ~

No it's a TECH DEMO ONLY, you can't play it. It's just to show off the new Game Engine. Looks great though WOW!!

It really shows Shadows and lighting and Water FX well, as well as PhysX, amazing Tech Demo, IMO.

Though if you hit Esc., during the DEMO, it takes you to the options screen as it would in the Final Release

however in this Tech Demo, you can't do anything but watch it. Spooky looking HUH?? Can't wait for the game!!

Blue

Never seen such pretty flowing Water, or Rain drops, trippy!! :yahoo: Did you try it with the sound on, the DEMO

has awesome sound too, but slows down the tech Demo. This is a Pre-Beta Demo, or Beta Tech Tech Demo only.

Blue that driver physicX is the 1 i have had for a while now. so don't worry about it not working with your other games. since i have 2 OS and they are running the same gfx and physicX driver with no problems . so don't try and uninstall them it may make things worse for you..i am down loading it now to. but it seem gamespots speeds are worse then dial :evil: up

this could be another good tool for benchmarking a new driver? since i use this other tech demo as 1 of many i use. it is called X3: Terran Conflict Rolling Demo Benchmark and it has a great feel to it. i would not mind playing it at all. http://www.gamershell.com/download_35438.shtml
i have that 1 set to 8x on both the AA and AF so it is all most what i run most of my games at, which is 16x on both.
just found out there is another gfx driver out. LV2G or laptopvideo2go has them and so does xfastest its the forceware 185.20 and they have links for both xp and vista 32bit and 64bit. so you know what im gonna be doing lol
