MAFIA I and II

Talk about gaming here

The game might start out a lil slow- the short areas and cut scenes trying to tell the story and give ya some back ground- after that its fine.

My only probs are first being 3rd view but can get use to it. 2 is no saves when you like. makes it a lil hard to just have fun and go out and roam the large world and get in trouble or buy stuff- you have to complete a mission before it saves- if you die you lose that progress. Note any play boys or wanted posters you find count no matter what and the count carries over to follow up play throughs and continues to unlock stuff as you go- [achievements]. A regular save and co op would have been perfect for this game. Some say the game is short- ya if in a hurry- it can take a very long time to find all play boys and wanted posters and if playing on harder skill levels might slow ya down some also.

Not being able to save when you want hurts this game- it is hard to just have fun- you are forced to progress just to save- if you die you have nothing back to your last save- sucks. :D

Mafia2 is pretty and fun to play after you get past the start of game and back story. The era cars and cloths are beautiful. I say play it if you can get it cheap- good to go. 1 or 2 of the dlc's might be fun- I think 1 adds co op if I remember right- that might be fun if so. Some complain the dlc's are all timed quests?

** Stop buying games and you guys play what you have- a 10 dollar steam sale today will be a 5 dollar steam sale a few months later. You guys can do or spend your money how you like- as a friend I would like to see you complete games maybe 1x or unless they really suck. It is easy for me I only get a few games here or there and have to play what I have or if I like them. You guys should maybe slow down on buying and focus on playing or stick to 2 games- maybe a fav mp game you play or fall back on and pick 1 game to finish and play just it or your 1 mp game- you will complete them. :D

LOL!! :yahoo: :taunt:

I didn't buy Mafia2, I merely played the DEMO. ;) Mister

To my defense, I was gone for a year, so I'm wanting to see all the stuff I missed, I'll play my games through, time is something I have,

so in no hurry to complete anything as yet. But I will. No I don't finish every game, but I try. Usually I format my HHD's doing a build

and skip saving my save game files!! D'oh!! Your right though, I need to concentrate on the games I have going. Or NOT!!?? LOL!!

Blue

BTW, I have a list of games I want, they all cost about 10-15 bucks @ Amazon. Amazon is the best way to go for retail games, IMHO.

Not brand NEW titles, but games that are say 6 months old. Found Mafia2 there for SIX bucks!! Come on doesn't get any better than

that!!

MAFIA II

Postby BlueMonster » Tue Mar 13, 2012 10:14 am

MAFIA II - Retail Full Game

Got this on sale @ steam, $7 bucks, seven bucks!!

This game is right up my alley I have mafia 1 as well, love the GFX

the second game the GFX are even better than the first, and it ROCKS too!!

Movement with keyboard is kinda sticky, but nothing to fret. I also Love all

the cut scenes that tell the story. The cars you drive are way cool, take 'em to

the shop and they fix all the dents and make t look new again, I always change my

plates, as these cops are everywhere, once they see you breaking the law they get on your

ass!! :o The first thing I always bust on my cars stolen or not are the freaking

head lamps!! Just bump a street lamp and they bust. Or my tail lights too, which

attracts attention from Johny LAW!!! :D The mirrors actually work too, in my

pad and everywhere else, you see yourself perfect!! I got my seven bucks out

of the game already easy and I'm just starting Chapter 4 :good:

Some PICs I took as always::

Here's a Sweet new ride, but I'd just smash it up, there's icy roads everywhere in NYC
Image
My new car (stolen of course, alraedy changed the plates, notice the CA. plate?
Image
Me, slurrping down the suds :D
Image
Me. Joe seeing double vision after about a six pack of beer in 1 minute, LOL!!

The BIG APPLE.
Image
A typical gas station, your notified when low on gas. Hopefully your not in a rush...
Image
Joe (me) talking business with the Mafia, yeah, ok, I'm in.

Great Story, Sound, GFX, just an all around great PC game!!

Blue

game on....oh maxed out GFX, and yeah it auto saves, but they must have patched it cuz

thee seems to be enough of them sometimes it saves but you don't see the spinning Mafia II logo

you just see a spinning thingy at bottom left of screen for example the Gas Stamps mission once your in the

building it saves a couple times. No bugs yet either......smooth as silk.

The auto save in this game sucks. All you do or buy or cars you steal mean nothing unless you advance the game is the only time it saves.. Some quest have check points or multi saves but again- if you do not advance to the next quest or check point its saves nothing and your time is lost. It takes away from just roaming the city causing mayhem or robbing stealing buying cars or cloths every thing- sucks. It pushes ya to the end is it..

Mafia2 has 1 of the very worst save systems I have ever played is the only reason I do not play it more.. It pushes ya to the end is about it.. 1 good thing tho wanted posters and play boys will carry over to your next game' so all you do not find in the first run through you can look for in your next games to get the achievements if you care to..

SR3 has check points plus you can go to a clothing store or your cribs and access your clothing and back out makes a save point- so you can pretty much save the game when ever you want. Not so with mafia 2. Had mafia 2 had a better save system it would have been a really nice game- they gimped it..

I agree about the saves as in auto saves Erik...

But if you have time, it's a blast. I picked up LA NOIRE diet cheap with all DLC's included. It's just like Mafia2, though

more complicated, I think once I play if for awhile and get my controls set better, it'll be easier. Look for my thread.

Back to Mafia2, I just love all the excellent detail, (GFX) whoa!! I trash a lot of cars though. What pisses me off is

the first thing to go, is always your Headlamps, or rear lamps. The Headlamps, all ya gotta do is bump a car a tad and they get

smashed (cracked, broken) the I steal a new ride fix 'er up and change the plates, always Ca., plates, LOL!! :D

Bought these SWEET RIMS!! Last time I waste Money on RIMS, He, heee.... :D

In a whole Package, I'd give it an 8, if it had Quick Save/Load, why then a 9.

Bloe

Still LOVE the GAME as is. :9:

I loved m2 just it gets old. You do not want to just do the story- you want to roam what ever- if you die you start the whole thing over again- all money or cars or cloths what ever is lost until you advance the story- just kills it for me..

Many of the quests are not done if you do not get the play boy' and some you can not go back to unless a new game. It is a right pretty game and the story is cool- hard to much play it more than 1x for me tho.

Steeling cars is all you have and it is easy to die in the game. If you rob places they are closed down for good and you have few places to go to to buy what you need like gas what ever- so that sucks- it is really lil to do look for a few cars and fix up but is only like 7 worth having really. You can go postal on the city- thats pretty fun until you die and all is lost.. They could have let him have a girl friend something- all the others have girls- guess he is the me so so guy maybe? :P :D

It could have been a great game.

He is driving a vet if I remember right- you will never keep up with him with that clunker. Man why not get some better cars. Look at my photos they are the fastest in the game.. You can make money stealing cars and crushing them at the junk yard. Just be careful not to die.
