Warner Bros. Interactive has announced F.E.A.R. 3 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
For the third game we see the return of Alma returns, but her sons Point Man and Paxton Fettell introduce what the publisher calls "divergent co-op" giving players different gameplay and altering the experience of those they play with.
In the single player game you will take the role of enhanced super soldier Point Man. In co-op mode you can play as Point Man or his telekenetic brother Paxton Fettel.
Acclaimed horror director John Carpenter has been roped in to consult on the game's cinematics. Meanwhile horror comic and script writer Steve Niles helped the development team write the script.
"Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is evolving the F.E.A.R. brand with top horror, co-op and first person shooter combat in F.E.A.R. 3," said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Monolith Productions has passed the torch to Day 1 Studios to create a quality, powerful game that stays true to the roots of the F.E.A.R. franchise but takes players to a heightened level of gameplay."
Day 1 Studios is handling coding duties - the developer worked the original console versions of F.E.A.R. alongside Monolith.
"After working closely with Monolith, Day 1 is honoured to bring the next iteration of the F.E.A.R. franchise to gamers with key elements of the past games yet providing fresh combat and horror experiences in F.E.A.R. 3," said Denny Thorley, Founder and President, Day 1 Studios. "Players can look forward to new features such as divergent co-op, an evolved cover system, and more scares in F.E.A.R. 3."
Warner Bros. says the shooter sequel will be released on all three formats in autumn 2010.
