decided to tare it down today

well i have been wanting to do this for some time now. which is paint the inside of my case black and since today is a nice day i started in on it. well what started it was that i took the back door off and painted it gloss black.
Image

well i ruff sanded it and then wiped it down and then painted it gloss black. which at 1st turn out real good but after 3 coats of paint i left it set in the sun to bake dry. well i figure since i had some clear coat i would put a coat on it to see what it would look like. well i forgot why i had 2 full cans after i did my gas tank on my 69 Olds now.

the clear coat turn out like cracked glass!! i am very glad that this is the back door which only a very small top part will be seen and that is not much but still. so i figure what the heck take it all apart beside i am way past my time on the coolant anyways. so it need to be flush and filled so the time would be good right now.

man i never knew i had so much crammed into this big case lol.
Image Image Image Image

1 thing i will do as well is take the north and south bridge and pwm and redo the TIM paste since the water block didnt look to well after all this time. and the cpu has been done a few time and the NB and SB and PWM have only been done once. since i got the mobo.

also while i got it all apart i will take out the water block and clean it up as well. good thing i get the kit with the block when i get them cause i think of this before hand. then finish up flushing the water cooling system out and then use distilled water to finish out the flushing to make sure there is no other garbage left in it before the good stuff goes back into it.

Image
so i got a lot of stuff to do and i got a little start on it now as you can see from what few pictures i have taken. i did do some more cutten on the case but i may do a cpu cut on the mobo plate so in case i need to change out the plate for the cpu cooler i can with out removing the mobo.
here is the back plate for the cpi and mobo
Image Image
this is the PSU plate with the back door to case
Image

as you can see i really took this case apart so it would be easy to paint it up.
Image Image Image

will have more when i get more done on it. so yeah i wont be playing any this wk for sure. lol my GF may get to see more now and know that i do live outside of my room ROFLMMFAO!!

Wow. You have your work cut out for you. How often are you supposed to change coolant in a water cooled system? Does the coolant "wear out" after a while? Not that I will ever water cool a PC but it's nice to know how it all works. Chris.

I would take 2000grit and water to the clear coat. Personally, I would have done it prior to the clear coat, then after, then polished. I also would have used a primer after a 1000grit sanding to the metal.

Thats me.

Chris with water cooling they say to change out the coolant every 6 month or less. i have over 1 1/2yr plus on this right now and it look really nasty when i dumped it out! the stuff that came out of the rad was really dark and it is a wonder it even kept the cpu cool at all.

GB
im not even sure what sand paper i used to ruff it up with right now. but the case it self. i got some more cutting to do since i will cut a hole so if i want to i can change the water cooling block if i want to. and if it needs a backing plate i can mount it with out removing the mobo at all.

but the back side door i will recheck it in the morning but it didnt look that good after the clear coat hit it. even after a hr went by it still look like sht. wish i never used it on it cause it look really good before i did to.

but yeah i got a lot of work ahead of me right now and i figure i got this wk to do it in. plus i got it kind of plan out as well. like what i will do from day to day just hope i have enough paint to get the job done lol. but i know i need a better clear coat cause this krylon stuff is junk!!

but i did get the rad and hose all flush out with distilled water so i can then take the block apart tonight and finish cleaning it up and then put it back together. and then also clean the paste off of it and the cpu since the arctic cleaner stuff i have does a great job in that.

and then i will do the nb and sb and pwm as well maybe tonight to.

Find some 2000grit, dab it in water (no not soak) and work a small area a few times. Then dry it....see how it looks compared to the rest that was untouched. Should look better and be ready to polish after that.

well i just came out from the garage since i need a driver to take the heat sinks apart on the mobo.the back side door doesnt look to bad though so maybe in the day lite it might look ok.
mobo is done:
Image

the nb and sb and pwm really need new ceramic paste on them after all this time since it looks like i didnt get enough on some and didnt hit it right either. this time i made sure i did and beside making sure it was all clean before redoing it to.

also i forgot all about the dam hard drive cages that still had drives in them lol so i had to take them apart and clean the drives off of dust. so now those can go and get ruff up and painted in the morning to just like the front side door will.

and from the sounds of it my good friend and clan leader is sending a quad to me this wk so i guess i time this well. in a way i hope i dont need to reformat when i put the new cpu in cause i just got done installing about 4 games on vista this last wk.

and even getting them to play well to boot. which was cod4,cod waw, nfs ug,nfs ug2.

man i still got stuff to clean up yet beside the other main stuff to boot lol. and not including the case to be sanded and painted. well it needs to be cut on some more yet but thats to be left in the morning though.

but GB i dont have any sand paper that fine though.. but maybe since the clear may have turn out ok i might not need to mess with it after all. well i just hope not anyways. but the paint i am using is spray paint nothing fancy at all cheap walmart .96 cent a can gloss black paint.

since i have 2 main bills that need to be taken care of and i go off and do this while trying to pay for those lol dam i got the touch or what? or am i touched

Spray paint is all I use. :) - primer, paint, paint, paint, paint, clear coat. Sand between each, especially any runs. This is not a fast process, paint can take upto 20-40min between coats, primer is the fastest to dry.

uhm never used primer on anything lol

well this morning i got a can of rustolem clear coat and that stuff work out great. so i went back and took the 2 cans of junk krylon clear coat back and got 2 can of the good stuff.

so now after that was done and now the other parts have 2 coat of clear on them. and the case has it hole where i want it at. i now got its 1st coat of paint on it.

well here is the pictures so far of whats painted and the back door that has a nice clear coat on it and i didnt even need to sand it at all.

now that a nice shine
Image

the place i mark for the hole i end up 5tuple checking it over all rofl!!
Image

Image Image

hard drive cages i decide to paint them Oldsmobile gold, same color as my Olds motor well its from the same can i used lol
Image

now this piece i had to re-cut it some more since i am using car door guard to cover the edges up with.

and since i had double edges in such a short area they would not work right so i had to make them more straighter. i hope it works

before
Image
after
Image

this is where the hose run threw to the radiator so now they will have plenty of room lol.i will finish up on the case tomorrow.

now my back is really killing me and my hands from all this cutting and painting these last 2 days. and i aint done yet.

i still got to put all this back together after all is said and done yet rofl!!
